Job Description:
Function of the Position:
The Vice President Operations will provide strategic direction and leadership to effectively support organization’s non scientific operations. The incumbent will be responsible in overseeing all aspects of operations and managing the activities of USP-India. Supervises department staff and outside consultants, advises senior leadership on issues and organizational development strategies. The VP, Operations have direct responsibility to over the functions like Finance, Administration, Marketing and Technical Services, Quality Assurance, Legal, and Human Resources Functions.
• Develops, executes, and monitors plans and programs, both short- and long-range to support business goals and the objectives of the organization.
• Provides overall leadership and management of the financial, human resource, information systems and other infrastructure activities to ensure to ensure that each department fulfills its goals and objectives and that they are aligned with the strategy for USP-India.
• Responsible for developing and continuously improving the administrative structure of USP-India.
• Responsible for the over seeing the financial stability and integrity of USP-India including planning, budgeting, results monitoring, asset control, and effective allocation of resources.
• Ensures the professional development (education and training) of direct reports and their staff in matters of leadership, management and continuing education in their respective areas.
• Support science outreach programs through coordination with Marketing and Technical services department.
• Establish solid relationships with local trade/professional associations to promote USP’s mission and business objectives.
• Maintains compliance with applicable regulations affecting the operations of the company (as opposed to compliance with regulations governing the deliverables that the company produces)
• Directs the assigned departments and participates in the general management of the organization in close support of the Sr. VP, USP-India to achieve its operating goals in accordance with sound general management principles, regulatory standards, and the USP mission. Provide strategic input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
• Collaborates with the senior management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of policies, systems, processes and staff to improve the overall operations and effectiveness of the organization.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Responsible for supporting, creating and managing a self supporting unit aligned with USP corporate culture, mission, and public health programs.

Candidate Profile:
Minimum Requirements:
Professional qualification with Masters degree in Business or related field. Prior experience in finance and accounting or sales and marketing. Excellent communication and leadership skills with 15 plus years of demonstrated experience in development and implementation of various strategic leadership activities is a must. Working for large corporate or MNCs or science based and complex organizations in terms of matrix reporting is preferred. Prior experience at the Vice President or comparable level preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Work experience and education and/or training in the US and /or Europe are preferred.
• Working for a multinational pharmaceutical company, contract research organization would be a plus.
• A good knowledge and understanding about Indian government regulations pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry, and international working culture.
• Must be collaborative and flexible; approaches work from a team/management perspective.
• Excellent leadership skills as evidenced by a track record of recruiting, building, managing, challenging, and rewarding a team.
• Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain high level of confidentiality
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and diverse projects concurrently.
