NIMHANS Announces Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry Fellowships

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the post of “Junior Research Fellow” (JRF) on contract basis for the CCRH funded project entitled “Developing 2D and 3D in-vitro Parkinson's disease models using hIPSC from Indian ethnicity patients assessing safety and efficacy of Homoeopathy drugs” – under the guidance of Dr.Indrani Datta, Professor & Head of Biophysics & PI, NIMHANS Bangalore 560029

Post : Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Essential Qualification : Minimum M.Sc OR M.Tech OR in any field of science / Life science / Biotechnology/ Physiology / Biophysics / Biochemistry with a good academic record. 

Additional Experience : Candidates with experience in Bioinformatics analysis of multi- omics data is preferable. 

Nature of Work : During the course of the project, candidate will learn to isolate & characterize exosomes, culture induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), differentiation of iPSCs to dopaminergic neurons, Confocal imaging, Flow cytometry (immunophenotyping, apoptosis, mitochondrial membrane potential), Multi-Electrode array (MEA) for electrophysiology from iPSC derived dopaminergic neurons and in rodent midbrain slices. He/She will gain expertise in biochemical (WB and qRT-PCR) and other biophysical techniques (Ultracentrifugation, Spectrophotometry, Dynamic Light Scattering) too. Candidates will be encouraged to apply for PhD (depending upon their performance, enthusiasm and research aptitude).

Emoluments / Salary : Rs. 37,000/- + 30% HRA Per Month
Maximum Age Limit : 35 Years
Duration of Project : 1.5 years
Duration of Post : Initial appointment will be made for a period of two months and will be extended further depending upon the performance of the candidate

• Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email and will receive a call letter for the written test/interview. 
• Candidates are required to report/join 30 minutes before the scheduled time for the interview/written test, whether conducted online or offline. 
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test/interview.
 • Candidates currently working on Extramural/Intramural projects at NIMHANS must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Principal Investigator. 
• The candidate should have scored a minimum of 50% in the written examination (Whenever written examination is indicated) to qualify for the skill test/interview. 
• The Institute reserves the right to select a suitable candidate. Possession of the prescribed essential qualifications alone does not guarantee selection. 
• No hostel accommodation will be provided for project staff.
