Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) is an autonomous institution that was established in 1989 by the Department of  Science and Technology, GoI to commemorate the birth centenary year of Jawaharlal Nehru. Prof. C. N. R. Rao, FRS, was the founding President. The Centre was registered as a society with Dr. Raja Ramanna (eminent physicist and former Chairman, DAE) as its first Chairman.

Post : Senior Research Fellowship [SRF]

Applications are invited for the position of Senior Research Fellows to work on “Understanding the Molecular Basis of Presynaptic Autophagy Dysregulation in the Context of Synaptopathies ” under the guidance of Principal Investigator Prof. Ravi Manjithaya , Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit (MBGU) and Co-Principal Investigator Prof. Sheeba Vasu, Neuroscience Unit (NSU) JNCASR, Bangalore 560064.

Remuneration : Rs. 42,000 plus 24% HRA

Essential Qualification : Post Graduate Degree in Life Sciences / Post Graduate degree in the professional course selected through a process described through any one of the following
a.) Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Test- CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship and GATE
b.) The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.

Two years of research experience
Experience with Drosophila handling, Drosophila dissection, molecular biology techniques like PCR, plasmid isolation, immunofluorescence assays, biochemical techniques such as Western blotting. Cell culture experience. Experience in recording videos of Drosophila, along with video analysis. Knowledge of MATLAB/ Python is preferred. 


Desirable Qualification : Interest and knowledge in Drosophila and Neurobiology and Biochemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with prior research experience.
