Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences (RMRIMS), Patna was established in the memory of the First President of Republic of India Deshratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad in the year 1963 with Asthma as its mandate. It was taken over by Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi on 1st April, 1984 under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India and thereafter the main thrust area is Visceral Leishmaniasis (Kala-azar).

Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare invites application(s) up to 23.10.2020 till 5.30PM for the post of Director, ICMR-Rajendra Memorial Research Institute for Medical Sciences, Patna in Level 14 of Pay Matrix (Rs. 1,44,200-2,18,200) (7th CPC Scale) and usual allowances as admissible to ICMR employees.

Essential Qualification & Experience:
i)    MD/MS/DNB or equivalent degree* recognized by MCI OR First Class Master’s degree with Ph.D from a recognized University in subjects Biochemistry, Chemistry, Anthropology, Sociology, Social Work, Food and Nutrition, Economics with specialization in Health Economics, Psychology, Biology/ Bioscience, Entomology, Genetics/ Medical Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular biology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Toxicology, Virology, Zoology, Biotechnology, Botany, Bio-informatics, Biostatistics/ Statistics

ii)    16 years R&D experience in the relevant areas (mentioned in Annexure-I) from a recognized institute, (preferably 5 years in a managerial position to handle R&D projects independently) including 2 years regular service in the Pay matrix level-13-A or equivalence as per DoPT guidelines as amended from time to time**. Out of above experience, five years should be in Managerial Research position viz., PI or Co-PI of Scientific studies. *Regular 2 years Masters of Public Health (MPH) with one year experience or MRCP or subjects approved by MCI will be considered equivalent to MD/DNB ** In case applicants are from Private Sector or Laboratories/Institutions abroad, the Screening Committee shall decide the equivalency of Pay Scale.

Wherever the PG/Ph.D is not awarded with the subjects mentioned above, the screening committee will decide whether degree of the applicant will meet the requirement of the subject mentioned in the advertisement.

Age limit: Upper age limit is 58 years. The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be as per the guidelines of Department of Personnel and Training issued from time to time. Age relaxation will be in accordance with Government of India instructions and the prescribed age may be relaxed in exceptional cases for experienced and qualified candidates by DG, ICMR.

Duration of the contract: The initial appointment will be for a duration of 5 years or till superannuation, whichever is earlier. A second term for maximum of 5 years or till superannuation, whichever is earlier may be considered by a review committee, subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria as per Recruitment Rules. During this tenure, if the incumbent is from ICMR, he/she will hold lien of his/her substantive post at ICMR.

Fee : Application Fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only) is required. SC/ST/Women/PWD/EWS candidates are exempted from application fee. Application Fee is to be paid by candidates through online link given in the application form.

III. In the event of any false information furnished or suppression of any material in the application coming to notice at any time during the service of a person, his/her services would be liable to be terminated.
IV. Application unsigned/incomplete or without supportive documents is liable to be rejected.
V. The application from employees working in Centre/State Government Department/ Public Sector Undertakings & Govt, funded research agencies must be forwarded through proper channel along with the certificate of the employer that “the applicant will be relieved within one month of his/her receipt of appointment order”. Advance copies of application will be considered subject to the condition that a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer is produced at the time of personal discussion.
VI. Any outside influence (political or otherwise) brought in by a candidate shall disqualify him/her. Any matter for which no specific instruction has been given shall be decided by ICMR and the decision shall be final and binding on the candidates.
