NIMHANS is conducting a Walk in Selection for filling up the post of Project Research Scientist – 1 (Non-Medical) & Project Technical Support – 1” on a contract basis for the Project Entitled “Role of Nutrition, Environmental Heavy Metals, and Psychotropic Drug Levels in Pregnancy Outcomes Among Women with Mental Illness” funded by ICMR NISCHAYAK ANVESHAN Extramural Grants -2026 (NIRF) under Dr Geetha Desai, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, NIMHANS, Bengaluru - 560029.
Post : Project Research Scientist – 1 (Non-Medical)

Essential Qualification : Two year-M.Sc. or Integrated M.Sc. in Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Neuroscience
Desirable Qualification: Qualification of national level tests- CSIR-UGC/ ICMR/ DBT/ DST-Inspire for JRF positions
Essential Experience : Experience with Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LCMS)/ Inductively Coupled Plasma–Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)/ Genomics or Molecular Biology Instrumentation
Desirable Experience : 1. 2 years of wet-laboratory experience in one or more of the following areas : Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM), heavy-metal analysis, or genomics/molecular biology.
2. Experience working in a hospital-based clinical setting, with exposure to clinical research related to mental illness. Female candidates will be preferred as the project involves evaluation and follow up of pregnant women
Maximum Age Limit : 35 years
Duration of Project : 4 years Duration of Post: Initial Appointment will be made for a period of 6 months and renewable every 6 months based on performance of the candidate till the end of the project.
Emoluments / Salary : Rs.56000/- + 30 % HRA per month
Note
• Candidates are required to report 30 minutes before the scheduled time for the interview
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test/interview.
• Candidates currently working in projects (Extramural/Intramural) at NIMHANS must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Principal Investigator.
• The candidate should have scored a minimum of 50% in the written examination (Whenever written examination is indicated) to qualify for the skill test/interview. For Direct Interview the candidate should score at least 50% Marks in the interview.
• The Institute reserves the right to select a suitable candidate. Possession of the prescribed essential qualifications alone does not guarantee selection.
• No hostel accommodation will be provided for project staff.
