Call for Research Scientist at PGIMER

Applications are invited for the following post in the ICMR funded project entitled “Leveraging whole exome sequencing and circulating microRNA profiling to identify causal variants/correlates linked to type 1 diabetes and celiac disease” under Dr. Gaurav Sharma, Associate Professor, Deptt of Translational and Regenerative Medicine, as per details given below:

Post : Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical) - 1 position

Essential Qualification : 1st Class Postgraduate in Bioinformatics/ Human Genetics/Genomics/Stem cell biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Microbiology/Zoology/Life Sciences, with 3 years’ research experience OR PhD in these subjects (As per ICMR norms).

Desirable : Experience of analyzing human exome and/or micro-RNA profiling NGS* data using various bioinformatic and computational biology tools. Candidates who qualified National Eligibility tests like CSIR-UGC NET including NET (LS) or GATE or any other national exams conducted by central govt. department like ICMR/DST/DBT/IT/IISc etc, will be preferred. *Next Generation Sequencing.

Upper Age limit : upto 40 years (Relaxations, if any, as per ICMR norms)

Remuneration : Rs 80,400/month i.e. (Rs 67,000/- + Rs 13,400 (20% HRA))

The engagement in the project is purely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. Appointment will be initially for a period till 09-03-2027 and will be extended depending upon the satisfactory performance of the candidate. Total duration of appointment in the project could be for a maximum of up to 09-03-2028 based on projects progress. However, appointment can be terminated by either side by giving one month’s notice or one month’s emoluments thereof.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview in Physical Mode to be held at the Seminar Room of the above stated department, most likely on October 31, 2026 at 11 am (will be confirmed separately by e-mail/phone). At the time of interview, candidates should bring their original documents/certificates for verification. No separate interview letter will be sent and no TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.
