NIMHANS is conducting a Walk-in Interview to fill up the following post on a contract basis for the SERB-funded project titled: “Comparative evaluation of in vitro and in vivo efficacy of Amphotericin B and erythromycin versus Amphotericin B and flucytosine combinations against Cryptococcus neoformans and Cryptococcus gattii” under Dr.Nagarathna S, Professor & Head, Department of Neuromicrobiology, and Principal Investigator, NIMHANS, Bengaluru – 560029.

Essential Qualification : M.Sc. in Microbiology / Medical microbiology / Biotechnology with at least 2 years of practical experience in various diagnostic microbiological laboratory techniques, with a particular emphasis on knowledge and hands-on expertise in clinical mycology techniques.
Desirable Qualification
• Candidates with qualified national level examination conducted by NET/CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT/MHRD or equivalent may be preferred
• Experience in handling and working with laboratory animal models (preferably mice)
• Knowledge and handling of Bio-safety level 2 organisms
• Handling of fungal cultures, AFST following standard microbiological practices and molecular techniques.
Job Description
• Handling and processing of fungal culture.
• AFST - microdilution broth dilution method and drug combination testing.
• Animal experiment- mouse model in vivo experiments.
Maximum Age Limit : 35 years
Emoluments : Rs. 35,000/- + 24% HRA per month.
Candidates who have qualified the aforementioned national- level examinations will be paid as per DST-SERB guidelines.
Duration of the Project : 15 months, Initial appointment will be made for 6 months and is extendable depending on the candidate’s performance.

Instructions for Candidates
1. Final selection will be based on the candidate’s performance in the Written test and skill test.
2. Candidates must register 30 minutes before the start of the interview.
3. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test/interview.
4. Candidates currently working in projects (Extramural/Intramural) at NIMHANS must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Principal Investigator.
