The Directorate General of Health Services (Dte.GHS) is a repository of technical knowledge concerning Public Health, Medical Education and Health Care. It is an attached organisation of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The Dte.GHS is headed by Director General of Health Services (DGHS), an officer of Central Health Services, who renders technical advice on all medical and public health matters to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The Directorate co-ordinates with the Health Directorates of all States/UTs for implementation of various National Health Programmes through its Regional Offices of Health and Family Welfare.
Post : Research Officer (Nutrition and Iodine Deficiency Disorders).
Number of the post : 02 Subject to variation dependent on work load.
Classification : General Central Service Group 'B’ Gazetted, Non - ministerial.
Pay Level in the Pay Matrix : Level-7 (Rs. 44900- 142400)
Age limit for direct recruits : Not exceeding 30 years. (Relaxable for Government servants upto five years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by Central Government).
Note : Thecrucial date for determining the age-limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications from candidates and not the closing date prescribed for those in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagalan, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub-division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands or Union territory of Lakshadweep.
Educational and other qualifications required for direct recruits : Essential : (i) Masters Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry or Nutrition or Home Science with Food and Nutrition as main subject from a recognized University; (ii) One year experience in Nutrition or Supplementary Foods or Nutrition Education or Goitre Control from Central Government or State Government or Public Sector Undertaking autonomous Organisation or Statutory body or International Organisation such as World Health Organisation or United Nations International Children’s Education Fund or National organisations funded or supported by Central Government or University Grants Commission recognised Universities or recognised Teaching Institutes.
Note 1: Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of Union Public Service Commission for the reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Note 2: Qualification(s) regarding experience is/are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for the reasons to be recorded in writing in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes, if any, at any stage of selection the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates belonging to these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies reserved for them.
Promotion : Field Investigator (Nutrition and Todine Deficiency Disorders) with fifteen years regular service in level-4 (Rs. 25500-81100) and having successfully completed two to four weeks training in the relevant field as prescribed by Department.
Note : Where juniors who have completed their qualifying or eligibility service are being considered for promotion, their seniors would also be considered provided they are not short of the requisite qualifying or eligibility service by more than half of such qualifying or eligibility service, or two years, whichever is less, and have successfully completed their probation period for promotion to the next higher grade along with their juniors who have already completed such qualifying or eligibility service.
Deputation (including shortterm contract) : Officers under the Central or State Governments or Union territories or recognised research institutions or universities or public sector undertakings or semi-government or statutory or autonomous organisations: (a) (i) holding analogous posts 011 regular basis in the parent cadre or Department; or (ii) with five years regular service in level-6 (Rs. 35400- I 12400) in the pay matrix; and (b) possessing the qualifications and experience for direct recruits in column (7).
Note 1 : The departmental officers in the feeder category who are in direct line of promotion will not be eligible for consideration for appointment on deputation. Similarly, deputationists shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment by promotion.
Note 2: The period of deputation (including short-term contract) including period of deputation (including short-term contract) in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not to exceed three years.
Note 3 : The maximum age-limit for appointment by deputation (including short-term contract) shall be not exceeding fifty six years as on the last date of receipt of applications.
