The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a growing phenomenon. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 amongst humble surroundings as a small charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST). In 1991, recognizing its potential, the C-DEST was made a “Grant-in-Aid” institute of the Government of Kerala and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (RGC-DEST), becoming the first institute in the country to be named after Sri Rajiv Gandhi, the young illustrious and visionary former Prime Minster of India.

Post : Junior Research Fellow

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a SERB (DST) funded research project on the evaluation of an Ayurvedic formulation for colorectal cancer in the Laboratory of Dr. K B Harikumar at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

Essential Qualifications
First Class M.Tech/ MVSc/M.Pharm/MSc in any branch of Life Sciences or MD (Ayurveda) from a recognized university. 

Age  : Below 28 years as on 31st October, 2018. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms. 

Fellowship : Rs. 25,000 + 20% HRA per month for M.Sc. Degree holders who have qualified at NET/GATE (with valid certificate) or Post Graduates in Professional Degree course qualified candidates. M.Sc. degree holders who do not have NET/GATE certification will be eligible for Rs. 12,000/- + 20% HRA per month. 

Duration : The project will be active for 3 years but the initial appointment will be given for 1 year and further extension will be based on the performance evaluation.

Selection Process 
Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format with a photograph, a copy of full resume indicating the percentage of Marks obtained and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 31st October, 2018. Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project. 

Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview and those who are successful in the written test will be interviewed on the same day.

No TA/DA/Other emoluments will be given for appearing in the written test/interview.
