Applications are invited for post of Project Scientist and Associate at BRIC-IBSD

Applications are invited from deserved and suitable candidates for the following posts under the project entitled “Biotechnological interventions for revitalizing sustainable large Cardamom (Amomum subulatum Roxb.) cultivation” funded by DBT, Govt. of India at BRIC-IBSD, Sikkim Centre.

The objectives of the project are as follows :
I. Collection and screening of large cardamom germplasm collection for agronomically relevant traits such as disease resistance.
II. Development of quality planting material.
III. Characterization of viral and fungal pathogens of large cardamom, including genome sequencing of viral and fungal pathogens.
IV. Development of reference genome of large cardamom and identification of markers potentially linked to resistance loci using resequencing of large cardamom cultivars and GWAS.

Project Scientist-III (01 post)
Upper age limit : 45 Years
Monthly Remuneration : Rs. 78,000/- + 9% HRA per month
Duration : 02 years or till the completion of the project.
Essential Qualifications : (i) Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent; and
(ii) Seven years’ research experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.
Desirable : Research experience in Biological Science (Plant Biotechnology or Plant Pathology) with the capacity to conduct independent research work as per the objective of the project.

Project Associate-I (04 posts)
Upper age limit : 35 Years
Monthly Remuneration : Rs. 31,000/- +9% HRA to Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligible Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or (b) A selection process through National level examination conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions. OR (i) Rs. 25,000/- +9% HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.
Duration : 02 years or till the completion of the project.
Essential Qualifications : Master’s degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable : Experience with Biological research works.

Field Assistant/ Worker (02 posts)
Upper age limit : 50 Years
Monthly Remuneration : Rs. 20,000/- + 9% HRA per month
Duration : 02 years or till the completion of the project.
Essential Qualifications : B.Sc./ 3 years Diploma in Engineering & Technology
Desirable : Experience in Laboratory & field works.

Remuneration, essential qualification and upper age-limit are as per the DST OM No. SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 10/07/2020; DST OM No. DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26/06/2023; and GRC-14014/04/2022-MED- DBT dated 19/06/2024.

1. The above positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. Selected candidates shall not claim for regular appointment either in BRIC-IBSD, Imphal and its branches or DBT, New Delhi.
2. No TA/DA will be paid to attend the interview and selected candidate will be posted at BRIC-IBSD, Sikkim Centre.
3. Candidates possessing research experience aligned with the objectives of the project are strongly encouraged to apply
4. The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved categories as per the GoI norms.
