CDFD, an Institute of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, invites applications from Indian nationals for the following purely temporary positions in the DBT-Welcome Trust (UK) India alliance research project entitled “PEACOCC: Pan-India EArly-onset COlorectal Cancer Consortium” and other projects funded by Indian government agencies.

The description of the positions, qualifications and nature of duties for each position is as follows

Project Scientist (PS) - I/II/III
Age Limit : 45 Years (PS-III) / 40 Years (PS- II) / 35 Years (PS-I)
Emoluments : Rs. 1,07,000/- + HRA( PS-III) / Rs. 92,000/- + HRA (PS-II) / Rs. 77,000/- + HRA (PS-I).
Essential Qualifications (PS-III) : (i) Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent; And (ii) Seven years’ experience in Research and Development in an Industrial or Academic institution or Science and Technology Organization or Scientific activities and services Project Scientist III
Essential Qualifications (PS-II) : (i) Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent; And (ii) Three years’ experience in Research and Development in an Industrial or Academic institution or Science and Technology Organization or Scientific activities and services
Essential Qualifications (PS-I) : Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent;

Desirable Qualifications : Experience in implementing large scale genomics projects, preferably related to cancer OR microbes / pathogens
Nature of Duty : The selected candidate will be responsible for overall coordination of the project; shall liaison with Pan-India clinical centres and sample collection centres and with host institutions of other investigators; will design and implement the NGS pipeline for exome and RNA sequencing data analysis as well as for DNA/RNA metagenomics in addition to supervising the CDFD staff involved in the project.

Research Associate (RA) - I/II/III
Age Limit : 40 Years
Emoluments : Rs. 67,000/- + HRA (RA-III) / Rs. 61,000/- + HRA (RA-II) / Rs. 58,000/- + HRA (RA-I)
Essential Qualifications : PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years’ experience of research, teaching and design and development experience after MSc/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in a Science Indexed (SCI) Journal
Desirable Qualifications : Experience in molecular biology techniques related to cancer biology and animal cell culture. Experience in working with laboratory animals will be a plus.
Nature of Duty : The selected candidate will manage and conduct the cell line, 3D tumor organoids, mice xenogragts and other molecular biology experiments.

Project Associate (PA) - I/II
Age Limit : 35 years
Emoluments (PA-I) : (i) Rs. 37,000/- + HRA to Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions. (ii) Rs. 30,000/- + HRA for others who have do not fall under the above category (i) above .
Emoluments (PA-II) : (i) Rs. 42,000/- + HRA to Scholars who are selected through process as mentioned in 3 (i) above. (ii) Rs. 33,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above
Essential Qualifications (PA-I) : Four years Bacherlor’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / Masters’ Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/ BVSc/Bpharm or Bacherlor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine or from a recognized University or equivalent OR
Essential Qualifications (PA-II) : Four years Bacherlor’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / Masters’ Degree n Natural or Agricultural Sciences/ BVSc/Bpharm or Bacherlor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine or from a recognized University or equivalent. and Two years’ experience in R&D Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific Activities and Services.

Desirable Qualifications : Experience in molecular and cell biology and protein chemistry techniques related to cancer biology and animal cell culture. Experience in handling clinical specimen including blood and cancer tissues, as well as tissue processing. OR Experience in computational analysis of NGS data.
Nature of Duty : The selected candidate will be expected to perform cell culture and molecular and Cell biology as well as protein chemistry based experiments and/or work with laboratory animals and/or perform computational analysis of DNA and RNA NGS data.

General Terms and Conditions
1. The vacancies against the position shall be filled based on the vacancies available at the time of selection. If more vacancies with identical job requirements become available within one year after the selection, these can also be filled from among the candidates who are empaneled for the above position.
2. Depending on the qualifications, experience and recommendations of the Selection Committee, the selected candidates may be placed in a scale and designation lower than the grade advertised/applied against. Emoluments of the candidates selected against the position may vary depending upon the qualifications, experience, recommendations of the Selection Committee or emoluments sanctioned by the funding agency in the project.
3. Candidates selected against the position will be expected to carry out research in the areas of Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Computational and Structural Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology or Molecular Biology.
4. Selection against the position will not make the candidates with Master’s Degree, eligible to register for a Ph.D. degree.
5. This position is purely temporary and are initially for a period of six months or one year. This position could be extended / terminated depending on the continuation of the project(s).
6. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person/EWS applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules.
7. Relaxation of age for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person/Female applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules.
8. Mere fulfilling the minimum qualifications will not entitle the candidate for being called for interview. The applications will be screened by a committee based on research experience and requirement of each project. Only those candidates who are found suitable will be shortlisted to be interviewed through Video Conference. The decision of the Director, CDFD will be final in this respect and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
9. Any of the selected individuals may from time to time be assigned to perform any other duties commensurate with their qualifications, by the Director, CDFD.
