Established in 1984, the Institute of Microbial Technology is one among the chain of 37 national laboratories, 6 units and 39 outreach centres of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Set-up to be a fore-runner in the niche domain of microbial biotechnology, the Institute in its initial years functioned from a start-up laboratory that provided a truly world-class R&D ambience in an area of over 10,000 sq. ft. to its researchers.

Essential Qualification : Masters / Integrated Masters in Natural or Agricultural or Pharmaceutical Sciences/ MVSc/ Animal Sciences OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification :-
Post no. 13 : Experience in microbial genomics and metagenomics.
Post no. 14 : Minimum one year experiences in basic immunological/microbiological/ molecular biology techniques such as FACS, ELISA, and cell based culture.
Post no. 15 : Experience on working with infectious agents and basic bacteriology.
Post no. 16 : Experience in handling microbes, identification, characterization and preservation. Knowledge and exposure to molecular biology techniques e.g. DNA isolation, PCR etc will be an asset.
Upper Age limit (years) : 35 years
Relaxation in the age limit for the candidates belonging to the category of SC/ST/PwBD/Women and the category of OBC shall be 05 years and 03 years respectively.
Monthly Emoluments : (i) Rs. 31,000/- +HRA for those candidates who have qualified CSIR- UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET incl. lectureship/assistant professorship or GATE OR those who have qualified National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their Agencies/Institutions.
(ii) Rs. 25,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.
