Vacancy for Senior Research Fellow at National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis

The National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis [Formerly Tuberculosis Research Centre (TRC)], a permanent institute under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), is an internationally recognized institution for Tuberculosis (TB) research. It is a Supranational Reference Laboratory and a WHO Collaborating Centre for TB Research and Training. Recently, an International Centre for Excellence in Research (ICER) in collaboration with NIH was established at the Centre.

Project entitled : “A randomized pragmatic open-label trial to evaluate the effect of three months of high dose Rifapentine plus isoniazid administered as single round or given annually in HIV-positive individuals (WHIP-TB India budget”

Essential qualification
1st or 2nd Class M.Sc. in Life Science /Biotechnology/Microbiology/ Biochemistry from a recognized University with two years research experience.
Desirable: GATE/GPAT/NET or equivalent examination qualified candidates will have preference.

Experience in clinical/bacteriological research

Age limit : Not exceeding 35 years.

Emoluments : Consolidated salary Rs.28,000/- + HRA Rs. 6,720/-

Nature of Duties
Overall coordination of the clinical trial activities. To facilitate screening of study participants and informed consenting process. To supervise retention of participants in the study and adherence to study procedures. To monitor drug intake procedures, training and supervision of the field staffs, organise review meetings, assist in compiling the data at regular intervals and writing of reports.

Initially for a period of one year

They may submit on spot the filled-in application form affixing a passport size colour photograph along with self attested copies of age proof, educational qualifications (from matriculation onwards), certificates of experience related to nature of job, caste certificate (for OBC candidate, creamy layer/non-creamy layer certificate as per Govt of India guidelines) and a fee of Rs.100/- (drawn in favour of Director, NIRT, Chennai) in the shape of demand draft from any Nationalized Bank.

The original of the attached documents should also be carried with for the purpose of verification. SC/ST, physically disabled candidates and women candidates are exempted from payment of fees subject to production of valid certificate.
