Job Description
Development of topical and/or sterile parenteral dosage form (e.g. liquid parenteral products, freeze dried products, creams, ointments, gels, etc.) and processes for global markets.
1.Development of topical and/or sterile parenteral dosage form (e.g. liquid parenteral products, freeze dried products, creams, ointments, gels, etc.) and processes for global markets.
2.Actively participate in teams, projects, networks and/or platforms. Fulfill all related tasks and responsibilities related to own discipline.
3.Proactively communicate key issues and any other critical topics in a timely manner to the appropriate management level and/or to any other relevant project team member(s).
4.Design, plan, perform and monitor all assigned activities.
5.Meet quality, quantity and timelines in all assigned projects, networks and/or platforms.
6.Actively participate in budget forecast, grant preparation and tracking of invoices. Demonstrate cost awareness in all assigned projects and/or networks.
7.Advise team members and work according to appropriate SOP’s, GLP, GMP, OQM, HSE, ISEC and Novartis guidelines.
8.Interpret results, evaluate data, draw relevant conclusions, write reports.
9.Contribute to risk analyses and/or peer review and process challenge meetings.
10.Generate scientific documents to hand over to internal and/or external partners (TechOps, authorities, external companies) and actively support generation of inter-national registration documents. Interact with authorities where appropriate.
11.Interact/collaborate with Research and/or other functions in Development to facilitate transfer of knowledge and deliveries of DP.
12.Actively contribute to team goals.
13.Coach/lead team members: support objectives setting, performance evaluations and development planning discussions with team members where appropriate. Participate in recruiting process if applicable.
14.Act in accordance with Novartis Values and Behaviors.
15.Contribute to evaluation of new scientific technologies/equipment and prepare CAR and URS if applicable.
16.Design, plan and perform scientific experiments. Provide efficient and robust processes for the manufacture and/or analysis of intermediates, drug substance and drug product as per own discipline.
17.Report and present scientific/technical results internally and contribute to publications, presentations and patents.
18.Utilize complex tools/equipment, lab automation tools and specialized facilities e.g., containment/sterile labs.
19.Maintain infrastructure/equipment and required investments.

Candidate Profile
Minimum: MPharm or equivalent Desirable: Advanced degree in a scientific or relevant discipline (Ph.D. or equivalent). Good knowledge of English (oral and written).
1.Successfully demonstrated several years (minimum of 3 years) of directly related experience as senior scientist or PhD in Science with focus on pharmaceutical sciences and technology (e.g. Pharmacy, Chemistry) with 3-4 years of experience or MPharm with 10+ years of experience
2.Excellent knowledge of laboratory and/or techni-cal tools.
3.Proficient in utilization of special tools/equipment, lab automation tools and specialized facilities e.g., containment/sterile labs.
4.Thorough understanding of development processes in a specific function.
5.Good knowledge of software and computer tools.
6.Profound literature search skills.
7.Ability to work in and/or lead international teams.
8.Strong leadership skills.
9.Strong knowledge of relevant SOP, GLP, GMP and Novartis regulations and policies.
10.Very good communication skills. Good presentation skills and scientific/technical writing skills. Advanced coaching skills.
11.May require up to 15% travel
