Established in 1984, the Institute of Microbial Technology is one among the chain of 37 national laboratories, 6 units and 39 outreach centres of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Set-up to be a fore-runner in the niche domain of microbial biotechnology, the Institute in its initial years functioned from a start-up laboratory that provided a truly world-class R&D ambience in an area of over 10,000 sq. ft. to its researchers.

Essential Qualification :- Masters/Integrated Masters in Natural or Agricultural or Pharmaceutical Sciences/ MVSc/ Animal Sciences OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
and 2 years experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.
OR Masters/ Integrated masters in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university.
Desirable Qualification :- Candidate must have 2 years of experience in characterizing microbes (phenotypic and genetic), preservation of microbes, PCR based identification methods, sequence and analysis.

Upper Age limit (years):- 35
Relaxation in the age limit for the candidates belonging to the category of SC/ ST/ PwBD/ Women and the category of OBC shall be 05 years and 03 years respectively.

Monthly Emoluments:- 1. Rs.35,000/- +HRA for those candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET incl. lectureship/ assistant professorship or GATE OR those who have qualified National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their Agencies/Institutions.
2. Rs.28,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (1) above.
