We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join a multidisciplinary research program focused on AI-driven drug discovery and chemical biology. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing machine-learning–identified targets and small-molecule hits toward validated chemical probes and early lead compounds.
Our lab integrates machine learning, structural biology, chemical proteomics, and biophysical assays to identify and characterize novel drug-binding sites across challenging protein targets. The postdoctoral researcher will play a central role in translating computational predictions into experimentally validated molecules and targets through iterative design–make–test cycles.
The position is based in the Department of Chemistry at Boğaziçi University, a leading research institution in Istanbul with a strong tradition of interdisciplinary science. Our long-term goal is to develop generalizable strategies for identifying and targeting previously undruggable sites across the human proteome using AI-guided chemical biology.
The lab is currently establishing new capabilities in chemical biology and protein target validation, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape early-stage research directions.
Responsibilities
• Design and synthesize novel small molecules guided by machine learning predictions and structural biology
• Conduct structure–activity relationship (SAR) studies and lead optimization campaigns
• Express and purify recombinant proteins for biochemical characterization
• Perform protein–ligand interaction assays (e.g., enzymatic assays, FP, DSF)
• Collaborate with computational and experimental teams to support iterative design–make–test cycles
• Contribute to manuscripts, conference presentations, and collaborative research projects
Qualifications Required :
• PhD in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field
• Strong skills in small-molecule synthesis and SAR analysis
• Ability to design and execute experiments independently
• Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills
Preferred skills :
• Experience with protein expression and purification
• Familiarity with biochemical or biophysical assays
• Interest in structure-based drug design or covalent inhibitors
• Experience working in interdisciplinary environments combining chemistry, biology, and computation
Candidates with strong synthetic chemistry backgrounds but limited biological experience are encouraged to apply; training in relevant biochemical and structural techniques will be provided.
Research Environment
The lab operates within a collaborative research environment focused on translational drug discovery, combining computational prediction, chemical synthesis, protein production, and biophysical validation to enable rapid design–make–test cycles for drug discovery.
Compensation
Salary and benefits follow Boğaziçi University postdoctoral fellowship guidelines and are competitive with international postdoctoral research positions.
