The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage. The institute started in 1962 and Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital now named “Nehru Hospital” on 7th July 1963. The Institute was originally under the Government of undivided Punjab. After the reorganization of the state, the administrative control of the institute passed on to the Union Territory of Chandigarh in November 1966.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following temporary positions under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, funded research project entitled: To study the effect of microbiota modulation and micronutrient supplementation in enhancing the intestinal epithelial barrier function using IBD patient-derived organoid model.

Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
Number of Post : One (01)
Essential Qualification
Candidates fulfilling any one of the following criteria are eligible :
1. First Class Postgraduate Degree (M.Sc.) in Microbiology/Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Biomedical Sciences/Biochemistry or related disciplines with NET/GATE qualification and at least two years of post-M.Sc. research experience, as per DBT/DST guidelines.
OR
2. First Class Postgraduate Degree (including Integrated PG Degree) with a PhD in relevant disciplines.
OR
3. First Class Four-Year Graduate Degree in Engineering/Technology (Biotechnology or related discipline), wherever applicable under DBT norms.
Age Limit : Maximum 35 years (Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India/DBT rules.)
Desirable Qualifications
Research Experience: Human intestinal organoid and stem cell culture, Mammalian cell culture, Clinical microbiology and anaerobic bacterial culture, Molecular biology techniques, Immunological assays (ELISA, cytokine assays), Flow cytometry (FACS), Immunofluorescence/confocal microscopy,
Remuneration : 42,000/- per month + 18% HRA (As per DBT norms)

Project Associate-I 
Number of Post : One (01)
Essential Qualification
Eligibility : Master's Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry or any allied biological science from a recognised University.
Age Limit : Maximum 35 years (Relaxation as per Government of India rules.)
Remuneration : 25,000/- per month + 18% HRA (As per DBT norms)
Project Duration : The appointments are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The project duration is three years, and appointments will initially be made for one year and may be extended based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
