The history of the IIT system dates back to 1946 when a committee was set up by Hon'ble Sir Jogendra Singh, Member of the Viceroy's Executive Council, Department of Education, Health and Agriculture to consider the setting up of Higher Technical Institutions for post war industrial development in India. The 22 member committee headed by Sri N.R.Sarkar, in its report, recommended the establishment of four Higher Technical Institutions in the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern regions, possibly on the lines of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, with a number of secondary institutions affiliated to it.

Project Title : Topology-Aware Distributed Signal Processing: Robust Sampling, Networked Reconstruction and Applications(NRA)

Qualifications and Relevant Experience : Research associates may be fixed at a consolidated amount at one of the 3 pay levels given below depending upon the qualification and experience. The Institute/Organization concerned may decide the level in which a particular associate should be placed based on the experience. The Essential Qualification (EQ) for RA is as follows: Ph.D./MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/M.Pharm/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
Desirable Criteria : Candidates with demonstrated research experience in one or more of the following areas are preferred: signal processing, topological data analysis, distributed optimization and inference, network science, machine learning for graphs, applied and/or computational linear algebra, algebraic topology, spectral graph theory, decentralized/federated learning, signal processing, or allied areas in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Strong mathematical maturity and programming proficiency in Python/MATLAB/C++ are desirable. Experience with scientific computing frameworks, simulation of distributed systems, publication in reputed conferences/journals, and ability to work independently in interdisciplinary research environments will be an added advantage.

Proposed Fellowship : Upto Rs.58000(depending upon qualification & experience))

Tenure : 30 Months or the termination of the project, whichever is earlier.
