TIFR is a National Centre of the Government of India, under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy , as well as a deemed University awarding degrees for master's and doctoral programs. The Institute was founded in 1945 with support from the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust under the vision of Dr. Homi Bhabha. At TIFR, we carry out basic research in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science and science education. Our main campus is located in Mumbai, with centres at Pune, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Post : Postdoctoral fellow
Research Area : Tumor immunity and mitochondrial function in progression of cancer
We invite applications for a postdoctoral position to study mitochondrial regulation of NK cell activation and tumor immunity. This is for a collaborative project between TIFR Hyderabad and Tata Memorial Cancer Centre.
Our research aims to decipher how cancer cells modulate NK cell metabolism and mitochondrial function to evade immune surveillance - and how we can reverse this process for therapeutic benefit. The project involves working with human immune and cancer cells to uncover how metabolic pathways and mitochondrial dynamics shape NK cell function.
The applicant should hold a Ph.D degree in Science or M.D or M.S degree in any area of medicine.
The following are desirable experience for this position :
• Strong experience in human cell culture, immune cell isolation, and functional assays
• Expertise in molecular biology/genetics and cell signaling
• Protein biochemistry
• Background in tumor immunology or related cancer research
• Experience with metabolic assays, mitochondrial biology
• Imaging
Candidates eligible for the National Postdoctoral Fellowship (N-PDF) from DST/ANRF are strongly encouraged to apply. Application deadline for N-PDF is June 30, 2025.
Application procedure :
Please send a concise write-up regarding your research interests and a detailed CV to training@tifrh.res.in.
The application and/or related queries may be addressed to Dr. Anand Vaidya (TIFRH), Dr. Manish Jaiswal (TIFRH), and Dr. Prasanna Venkatraman (TMC).
