Applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens who are Natives / Residents of Union Territory of Puducherry for the Competitive Examination to be held for Direct Recruitment to the post of Pharmacist (Allopathy) [Group 'C' Non -Gazetted- Non Ministerial] in the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, Puducherry as detailed below
Post : Pharmacist (Allopathy)

Qualification : H.S.C or its equivalent
Degree or Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized University/Institute
Registration in any one of the Register in Pharmacy Council
Age Limit :
Between 18 and 30 years of age as on 24.06.2025. Age limit is relaxable in respect of MBC, OBC, EBC, BCM, SC, Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Disabilities, Widows / Divorced Women / Women judicially separated from their husband and who are not re-married and Meritorious Sports Persons as detailed below: -
OBC/MBC/EBC/BCM : 3 years
SC : 5 years
Ex-servicemen (For details of Reservation and Concession to XSM refer Part-V of General Instructions to candidates): Period of military service plus 3 years
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (For Physical requirements & categories of disabilities suitable for this job, refer Part-II of General Instructions to candidates) : 10 years (in respect of reserved applicant, over and above the admissible relaxation of 5 years for Scheduled Caste and 3 years for MBC/OBC/EBC/BCM)
Widows/Divorced Women/Women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not re¬married.: Up to the age of 35 years (up to 40 years for SC)
Meritorious Sports Persons (Refer para 11) : 5 years (over and above the admissible relaxation of 5 years for SC. Applicable only for candidate applying under MSP quota and there is no written test for them).
Nativity / Residence :
1. Those who are natives of the Union Territory of Puducherry and residents by continuous residence in the U.T. for the last 5 years immediately preceding the date of notification only are eligible to apply for the posts.
2. The applicants ON SELECTION shall furnish the fresh Nativity/Residence Certificate issued by an Officer of the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar at the time of certificate verification.
Method of Selection
Written Examination :
1. The above said post will be filled through a Competitive Examination. The Question paper will be of objective type consisting of two papers (Paper-I and Paper-II) with 100 marks each with duration of 2 hours having 100 questions carrying one mark each.
2. The pattern of the examination and allocation of marks for different domains will be as follows :
PAPER-I (12th Standard Level CBSE and equivalent Boards)
A) General Intelligence and Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude
B) Current Affairs and Indian Polity
C) General Studies and General Science
D) English Language and Grammar / Comprehension
E) Computer Knowledge

Time Allowed : 2 hours
PAPER-II (Diploma Level)
Subject (Indicative Syllabus) : Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Biochemistry & Clinical Pathology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Health Education & Community pharmacy, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence, Drug store & Business Management and Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy
No. of Questions : 100
Maximum Marks : 100
Time Allowed : 2 hours
Negative mark of 0.25 will be awarded for every wrong answer and multiple answers will be treated as a wrong answer.
Weightage of Marks:
(i) 25% Weightage will be given for Paper-I
(ii) 75% Weightage will be given for Paper-II
Further, the candidates are cautioned that any correction in the marked answer will also be treated as wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this aspect in mind while answering the questions.
The Question paper will be in bilingual for Paper-I i.e in English and in any one of the regional languages namely, Tamil or Telugu or Malayalam. Therefore, the candidates should indicate the choice of the language in which they prefer to write the examination, in the on-line application. Questions asked on English Language, Literature, Grammar and Comprehension will not be translated in other language. For Paper-II the Question paper will be in English only.
Answering would be in the form of shading the correct answer by using BLACK BALL POINT PEN only and the applicants are permitted to take the carbon copy of their answer sheet along with their question booklet.
Minimum qualifying marks :
A list of candidates will be provisionally selected from the merit list based on the marks obtained by the applicants in the Written Examination subject to reservation as per rules in force. Minimum qualifying marks to be secured by the various category of candidates are as follows :-
UR : 30%
MBC/OBC/EWS/EBC/BCM : 25%
SC/PwBD/XSM : 20%
• A candidate must appear in both Paper-I and Paper-II to become eligible to be included in the merit list subject to obtaining of minimum qualifying mark prescribed above in each paper (Paper-I and Paper-II) and thereafter, weightage will be given as mentioned at 12.1.4 above.
• The Government reserves the right to relax the qualifying marks in exceptional circumstances,
• The answer key will be published in the recruitment website https://recruitment.pv.gov.in and also in the official website of this Department https://health.pv.QQv.in after completion of Examination process.
• Candidates may go through the Answer Keys and submit online representations, if any, within the stipulated time limit.
• Representations received through any other mode e.g. letter, application, email, etc. will not be entertained. Representation regarding the Answer Keys will be examined and decided by the Key Challenge Committee.
• The decision of the Key Challenge Committee in this regard will be final.
• Final Key will be published along with the results of the exam.
• There shall be no provision for re-evaluation/ re-checking of the scores of the examination. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
• Provisional select list will be drawn from the overall merit list of the exam observing the rule of reservation.
• A wait list will also be drawn, the validity of which will be two years from the date of declaration of result / publication of select list.
• The wait list will be operated in the event of occurrence of a vacancy due to rejection of candidature provisionally selected candidates for non¬production of required certificates, non-appearance of candidate for certificate verification, non-acceptance of offer or non-joining the service or when a selected listed candidate joins the service but resigns or dies within a period of one year from the date of joining etc.
In the event of tie in scores of candidates in the examination, merit will be decided by applying following criteria, one after another in the given order, till the tie is resolved:
Date of birth, with older candidate placed higher
Alphabetical order in which the names of the candidates appear.
General Instruction to the Candidates
1. Mode of applying for the Competitive Examination for Direct Recruitment to the post of Pharmacist (Allopathy) is through online only. Avoid registering multiple online applications and register only one single application. In case of multiple online applications, only the latest application will be accepted and ail other duplicate applications will be rejected.
2. Applicants except MSP category candidates need not send the printout of the online application or any other supporting documents to this Department.
3. All candidates who register themselves in response to this advertisement by the closing date and time and whose applications are found to be in order will be provisionally accepted as per the terms and conditions of this Notice of Examination.
4. Candidates must go through the requirements of educational qualification, experience, age, etc. and satisfy themselves that they are eligible for the post.
5. The Department will not undertake any detailed scrutiny of applications to check eligibility and other aspects at the time of written examination and, therefore, admission to the examination will be provisional only, which will not confer any right on such provisionally admitted candidates to claim appointment based on such provisional admission.
6. Candidates are cautioned that they must ensure that they belong to the category as filled in the application form and are able to prove the same by furnishing the requisite certificate from the competent authority when such certificates are sought by this Department at the time of certificate verification, failing which their candidature will be cancelled. For example, candidate X filled OBC in his application form. However, during certificate verification, he is unable to produce the valid OBC certificate. In such scenario, candidature of X will be cancelled.
7. The Candidates who mention their category as MBC-Migrant/OBC-Migrant/ BCM-Migrant / EBC-Migrant / SC-others in their online application will be considered only under Unreserved category.
8. The certificates/documents in support of their educational qualifications and caste/category, etc. shall be sought from the provisionally selected candidates at the time of Certificate Verification only.
9. After verification of the certificates/ documents of educational qualifications/ caste/ category, etc., if any claim made in the application is not substantiated by certificates/ documents, the candidature of candidate will be cancelled/rejected, without any notice.
10. All notices and Press Release will be issued on the website https://recruitment.pv.Qov.in only. The candidate is advised to visit the website and watch the news in dailies regularly for latest information about the examination. Individual Admit cards will not be sent to the candidates. The eligible candidates can download the Hall Ticket from the website https://recruitment.pv.aov.in by using their "Username and Password".
11. Change of Address and Mobile number, if any, after submission of application should invariably be intimated to the Department by Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due. Otherwise the Department will not be responsible for any delay/ non-delivery of letters / SMS messages.
12. If candidates are found to indulge at any stage in any of the malpractices, will immediately be sent out of the Examination Hall, their candidature for this examination will be cancelled and strict legal action will be initiated including lodging of FIR and debarment from future examinations conducted by the Government of Puducherry.
13. Use of calculator, laptop, palmtop or other digital instruments /mobile /cell phone /communication devices /electronic devices /pager/Smart Watches are not allowed inside the examination venue. In case any candidate is found in possession of such items he or she would be debarred from the examination and legal proceedings will be initiated against the candidate.
14. The decision of the Government as to the eligibility or otherwise of the applicant for admission to the Examination shall be final.
15. A separate press note will be issued in leading regional news dailies regarding the issue of hall tickets through online.
16. The applicant, after applying can also make corrections in their on-line application, if any error occurred while entering the data. They are allowed to avail this facility till 03.00 p.m. on 24,06,2025.
17. The information/data furnished by the applicants in the online application are final and cannot be altered after the last date of applying i.e. 24.06.2025.
18. Before submission of the applications / corrected applications, candidates must check that they have filled correct details in each field of the online form. After the closing date for receipt of online application i.e. 24.06.2025, no change / correction / modification will be allowed under any circumstances. Requests received in this regard in any form like Post, Fax, Email, by hand etc. will not be entertained by this Department and will be summarily rejected.
19. The applicants are advised to have a copy of the online generated application for their reference.
20. Candidates seeking reservation benefits available for SC/OBC/MBC/EWS/ BCM/EBC/XSM/PwBD/MSP must ensure that they are entitled to such reservation as per eligibility prescribed in the Notification. They should also be in possession of the certificates in the prescribed format in support of their claim.
21. After scrutiny, the status of the application will be indicated in the Website https://recruitment.py.gov.in. The applicants are advised to check the official website to know their application status.
22. No correspondence will be entertained with regard to the recruitment process. Candidates are advised to verify the status of their Application/ Hall Ticket etc, through online only.
23. The admission to the examination is only provisional. Success in the examination confers no right to appointment. The appointment is subject to verification of educational qualification/residence/community and any other special category claimed by the individual including medical fitness.
