Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) is an autonomous institution that was established in 1989 by the Department of Science and Technology, GoI to commemorate the birth centenary year of Jawaharlal Nehru. Prof. C. N. R. Rao, FRS, was the founding President. The Centre was registered as a society with Dr. Raja Ramanna (eminent physicist and former Chairman, DAE) as its first Chairman. The Centre was recognized as an Institution Deemed to be University by University Grants Commission, GoI in 2002. Prof. Giridhar U. Kulkarni is the current President of the Centre, and its Governing Council is chaired by Prof. V Ramgopal Rao. The Council of Management oversees all major activities of the Centre including granting of degrees, appointment of new faculty and initiation of new programmes.

Applications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work on “Elucidating the role of lysosomal hydrolase trafficking in health and disease.” under the guidance of Principal Investigator Prof. Ravi Manjithaya, Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit (MBGU), JNCASR, Bengaluru 560064
Remuneration : Rs. 31,000 plus 24% HRA
Essential Qualification : Post Graduate Degree in Life Sciences / Post Graduate degree in the professional course selected through a process described through any one of the following
a.) Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Test- CSIR- UGC NET including lectureship and GATE
b.) The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.
Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, advanced skills in fluorescence microscopy and related techniques such as immunofluorescence, live cell imaging, image analysis and statistics; extensive expertise in molecular biology techniques and biochemical techniques such as western blotting and immuno-precipitation.
Desirable Qualification : Interest and knowledge in intracellular infection in mammalian cell culture. Preference will be given to candidates with prior research experience and good communication and presentation skills. Candidate should be a team player.
