CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Chennai is a National Laboratory under the aegis of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). It is one of the World’s premier Institute engaged in Research & Development in the area of Leather Science & Technology and associated with several National & International Program.
CSIR-CLRI desires to engage talented candidates as Project Associate-I on temporary basis in various projects tenable at CLRI as per qualification, age etc.
Project Associate-I (02 Posts)
Sl. No. : 6
Qualifications : Master’s degree in Biochemistry / Biotechnology / MVSc / M.Pharm / Animal Sciences from a recognized University/Institute.
Desirable : 1-2 years’ experience in animal models.
Tenure* : 9 Months
Monthly emoluments : Rs. 25,000/- plus HRS
Upper age limit : 35 years#
Project Associate-I (01 Post)

Qualifications : Essential: B. E in Computer Science/ B. Tech in information Technology/ M.Sc. in Computer Science/ MCA from a recognized university
Desirable : Candidates having the following will be given preference:
(i) Handling in-house application Software
(ii) Testing the functions of the in-house application software
(iii) E-mail configuration and maintenance
(iv) Preparation of reports using MS-Word and MS-Power Point and Maintenance of databases using MS-Excel (v) Handling of Procurement using GeM Portal
(vi) Excellent written and oral communication skills

Project Associate-I (02 Posts)

Qualifications : Essential: B. E / B. Tech in Civil / Environmental/ Biotechnology Engineering or M. Sc., Biotechnology with at least 60% marks from a recognized University/Institute (OR)
M.E or M. Tech in Civil/ Environmental Engineering / Management with at least 60% marks from a recognized University/ Institute.
Desirable : Candidates having the following will be given preference :
(i) Knowledge of water/ wastewater treatment and STP/ETP/CETP operation activities.
(ii) Data collection, wastewater Effluent sampling, testing and preparation of technical reports.
(iii) MS Office and Auto CAD.
Tenure* : One year

Upper age limit : 35 years#

(i) Preparation of technical reports, estimates, bills and tender documents as per the CPWD norms and maintaining the day to day supervision activities and maintaining of records and register
(ii) MS Office and Auto CAD

Principal Project Associate (01 Post)

Qualifications : Doctoral degree in Science / Engineering / Technology from a recognized University or equivalent (AND) 3 years of research experience in Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science & Technology Organizations.
Tenure* : 3 Months
Monthly emoluments : Rs. 49,000/- plus HRA
Upper age limit : 40 years#
* Tenure mentioned above may be extendable. In any case, it is co-terminus with the project or till such time this requirement exists whichever is earlier.
# The relaxation in the age limit for the candidates belonging to the category of SC/ ST/ PwBD/ Women and the category of OBC shall be 05 years and 03 years respectively or as per Govt. of India instructions issued in this regard from time to time.
I. Note : As per CSIR letter No. 5-1(342)/2017-PD dated 02.09.2024, the total tenure of the project staff shall not exceed 6 or 7 years under any circumstances as per the CSIR guidelines under clause 1.6 & 1.7 of the said letter. Hence, the applicants who have completed the total tenure of 6 or 7 years in any of the CSIR Lab/Instt. as Project Staff are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for the aforesaid positions.
II. Mode of Selection : Candidates fulfilling the above-mentioned qualification, age etc., may appear for Written Test / Interview as detailed below :
Stage I :
Date : 10.07.2025 (Thursday)
Time : 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Venue : Triple Helix Auditorium, CLRI
Written Test (Qualifying in nature) - for all positions. Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Type – including subject concerned at Graduation level, General Awareness, General Intelligence, Aptitude & General English Maximum Marks: 50 Marks
Stage II
Personal Interview for the candidates who qualify in the Written Test and the cut off marks will be fixed by the Competent Authority.

For the positions against Notification Sl.No.:
1, 2 & 3 : from 9:00 AM onwards
4, 5, 6 & 7 : from 1:30 PM onwards
at CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, Sardar Patel Road, Adyar, Chennai – 600020 along with application form and supporting documents.
NOTE : Applicants, who qualified in NET /GATE or national level exams conducted by CSIR / DBT / DST / ICMR / IIT / IISc / IISER / UGC / ICAR etc. are need not appear for the written test. They can directly attend for the personal interview as per the aforementioned schedule.
III. Application Form is available in the CLRI website (clri.org/) Candidates those who qualify the Written Test may appear for the Interview with duly filled in Application Form with self-attested photocopies of requisite certificates/ documents (viz. Date of Birth certificate, 10th or equivalent certificate, XII or equivalent certificate, Graduation certificate, Post- Graduation certificate if applicable, experience proof (if applicable) etc. along with original certificates for verification, a photo id proof like Aadhar Card, Voter I- Card or any other Photo ID Card issued by any Government Agency and 02 passport size colour photographs.
General Terms and Conditions
a) These are purely temporary positions and co-terminus with the projects.
b) The date of determining qualification and age shall be the date of Written Test / Interview.
c) Applications submitted other than in the enclosed prescribed Application form, will not be considered.
d) Candidates should NOT send their applications by post/ speed post/ courier.
e) The prescribed qualifications should have been obtained through recognized Universities/ Institutions etc.
f) Incomplete application form without requisite information, certificates/ documents, photograph are liable to be rejected.
g) Any discrepancy found in the information given in application and that is evident in original documents will make the candidate ineligible for appearing for interview.
h) If at any subsequent date it is detected/ found that the candidates have given incorrect information or has withheld certain information or does not fulfill the eligibility criteria; their candidature shall be cancelled without assigning any reason whatsoever.
i) The candidates attending interview should bring alongwith them the duly signed application form, accompanied with self-attested photo copies of all the requisite certificates, marksheets in support of age, educational qualifications, experience (if applicable), and submit the same alongwith original certificates, marksheets, at the time of attending interview for verification. j) The candidates will not be allowed to attend the interview if they do not bring their application form and or requisite certificates/ marksheets.
k) Candidates, in any case, will not be allowed to report for written test beyond 10:00 AM on the date of Written Test.
l) Candidates would not be allowed beyond 11:00 AM for the candidates whose reporting time is 09:00 AM on the date of interview. Candidates would not be allowed beyond 02:30 PM for the candidates whose reporting time is 01:30 PM on the dates of interview.
m) No travelling allowance will be paid for attending Written Test / Interview.
n) All applicants must fulfil the essential qualifications of the position and other conditions stipulated in the notification as on the date of interview. They are advised to satisfy themselves before appearing for interview that they possess the essential qualifications laid down for the position they are applying. No enquiry asking for advice as to eligibility will be entertained.
o) Document/ Certificate furnished in a language other than Hindi or English, must be accompanied with an English transcript of the same duly attested by a Gazetted Officer or Notary.
p) Canvassing in any form and/or bringing any political influence or otherwise will be treated as a disqualification for the positon.
q) The Director, CSIR-CLRI reserves the right to amend, delete and add terms & conditions to this notification.
Other Conditions
a) Candidates found suitable for selection will be empaneled. Empaneled candidates may be selected for future project requirements.
b) Final year/ Semester students, who are awaiting results are NOT ELIGIBLE to be considered.
c) The Tenure mentioned above may be curtailed/ extendable. In any case it is co- terminus with the project or till such time the requirement for need of Project Associate-I exists, whichever is earlier.
d) In case of selection, Original certificates must be again produced for verification at the time of joining.
e) The position is purely temporary and will not confer any right on the Project Associate-I for permanent appointment in CLRI/ CSIR.
f) The Director, CSIR-CLRI reserves the right to cancel the notification without assigning any reason thereof or reserves the right not to fill up the positions. The number of positions indicated against each position is provisional and may increase or decrease at the time of selection.
g) The decision of the Director, CSIR-CLRI in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications will be final and binding on candidates.
