The Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem), is a state-of-the-art research institute in Bangalore, India, dedicated to the study of stem cell and regenerative biology. An autonomous institute funded by the Dept of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, inStem emphasizes collaborative research in stem cell biology. inStem’s mandate to allow this cross-disciplinary, multi-pronged approach to research, straddles the divide between clinical and laboratory research in stem cell biology. In trying to answer intractable and challenging questions that face the field, inStem seeks to rewrite the paradigm of the research institute: without barriers and across disciplines.

Project assistant position in metabolomics and mass spectrometry at inStem, Bangalore
Two project assistant/JRF (for NET qualified candidates) positionsare available at the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem), within the NCBS campus in Bangalore. These positionsare supported by a multi-group DBT-Centre of Excellence (CoE) program. The persons in this position will be responsible for:
1. Enabling automation of analytical pipelines
2. Metabolomics method development and implementation and
3. Equipment maintenance/troubleshooting in support of diverse projects in metabolomics and targeted metabolite analysis.

 

Qualifications: This role requires M.Sc. (chemistry)/B.Pharm or M.Pharm/B.Tech(chemical) or BE (chemical engineering) or equivalent degree, with a background/interest in analytical chemistry and mass spectrometry. The successful candidate must be a team player. Good written and verbal communication skills are desirable. NET qualification is not necessary, but is preferred

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of metabolomics and protein chemistry methods for metabolite analysis using LC/MS-MS based methods, using state-of-the art triple quadrupole, ion trap,orbitrapand other similar high performance mass spectrometers.
