Established in 1984, the Institute of Microbial Technology is one among the chain of 37 national laboratories, 6 units and 39 outreach centres of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Set-up to be a fore-runner in the niche domain of microbial biotechnology, the Institute in its initial years functioned from a start-up laboratory that provided a truly world-class R&D ambience in an area of over 10,000 sq. ft. to its researchers.

Project Associate-I (PAT-I) = 30 Positions
Essential Qualification : Masters/ Integrated Masters in Natural or Agricultural or Pharmaceutical Sciences/ MVSc/ Animal Sciences or equivalent.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Monthly Emoluments:- Rs.31,000/- +HRA for those candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET incl. lectureship/ assistant professorship or GATE OR those who have qualified National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their Agencies/Institutions.
2. Rs.25,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (1) above.

Project Associate-II (PAT-II) = 10 Positions
Essential Qualification:- Masters / Integrated Masters in Natural or Agricultural or Pharmaceutical Sciences / MVSc / Animal Sciences
OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
and Two years experience in Research & Development in Industrial and Academic institutions or Science and Technology organizations.
OR
Masters/ Integrated Masters in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University
Monthly Emoluments:- Rs.35,000/- +HRA for those candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET incl. lectureship/ assistant professorship or GATE OR those who have qualified National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their Agencies/Institutions.
Rs.28,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (1) above.

Upper Age limit (for PAT-I/PAT-II):- 35 years
Relaxation in the age limit for the candidates belonging to the category of SC/ ST/ PwBD/ Women and the category of OBC shall be 05 years and 03 years respectively.

Candidates having experience in carrying out molecular biology, molecular microbiology, immunology, structural biology, systems biology, protein expression, purification and characterization, phenotypic and genotypic characterization of clinical strains, handling microorganisms of BSL2/BSL3 category, microscopy techniques, organic synthesis & medicinal chemistry, tissue cell culture, hands on experience in animal handling & experimentations, Microbiome and metagenome analysis, etc.

PAT-I : 07 (Post Code: 11-17) and PAT-II : 01 (Post Code: 36)
For MTCC Services: Experience in handling microbes, molecular identification, phenotypic characterization and preservation, phenotypic and genotypic characterization of clinical strains, Cell culture, Microbiome and metagenome analysis, molecular biology techniques, Sanger sequencing, microbial genomics, etc

PAT-I : 05 (Post Code: 18-22) and PAT-II : 01 (Post Code: 37)
For BERPDC: Research and/or industrial experience in the development, optimization, and scale-up of fermentation-based bioprocesses using conventional and statistical approaches, such as Design of Experiments (DoE), Plackett–Burman Design (PBD), Response Surface Methodology (RSM), etc.; batch and fed-batch fermentation in laboratory and/or pilot-scale fermenters and knowledge of downstream processing, characterization, and functional assays of industrially relevant biomolecules such as enzymes, antibiotics, therapeutic proteins and other bioproducts.

PAT-I : 04 (Post Code: 23-26) and PAT-II : 02 (Post Code: 38-39)
For BIC/IT/Computational Sciences: Experience in data science or bioinformatics or computational biology, Artificial Intelligence, machine learning (AI/ML), NGS data analysis and demonstrable experience in Python/C/PERL/R and MySQL, etc.

PAT-I : 04 (Post Code: 27-30) and PAT-II : 01 (Post Code: 40)
For ISD: Research experience in areas relevant to advanced biological, biomedical, biochemical, biophysical, chemical, analytical, structural, molecular, cellular, computational, environmental, or bioprocess research, with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: sophisticated instrumentation and analytical platforms; advanced microscopy and imaging; biosafety and biocontainment facilities; cell and tissue culture; molecular biology and sequencing; peptide synthesis; therapeutic development; chromatography, purification and mass spectrometry; flow cytometry; structural biology and biophysical characterization; biodegradation; epigenetics; emerging infectious disease preparedness; technology assessment and translation; and innovation/incubation activities. Hands-on experience in experimental design, method/protocol development, optimization, validation, troubleshooting, data acquisition, analysis and interpretation, operation and maintenance of sophisticated research equipment/facilities, documentation, quality systems, biosafety, regulatory compliance, and interdisciplinary research would be desirable.
