The Centre for Brain and Mind (CBM) is an exciting scientific venture of the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and the National Institute for Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS), supported by the Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies. CBM undertakes cutting-edge research in the area of human mental illness with the goal of discovering novel and better methods for the diagnosis and clinical management of these patients. The program involves the generation and analysis of cellular models using patient-derived human-induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and their differentiated brain tissue.
Baatein is CBM's flagship science outreach initiative that was launched in 2025. Baatein has been envisioned as a space to hold open and inspirational conversations about mental health and mental well-being, backed by research and scientific evidence.
Internship Description :
Position : One (1), on-site role
The appointment will be a fixed-term position for a maximum period of six to eight weeks, subject to performance outcomes and assessments.
The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with interest in digital storytelling, content development and community engagement, preferably within academic, scientific, research, or non-profit environments.
Key Responsibilities :
The incumbent is expected to be able to :
Content Generation : Design infographics, visual aids and written or interactive content that will help disseminate CBM research to the society at large.
Science Illustrations : Develop illustrations and/or animations that accentuate and help better understand and disseminate CBM's scientific research in a highly creative manner.
Scientific Outreach : Work as part of a team to publicize, plan and successfully conduct a variety of off-and on-campus science outreach activities. This includes coordinating with schools and colleges, help plan public talks / lectures among other outreach events.
Professional attitude : Good interpersonal skills for effective and clear communication with scientists, academics and team members
Qualifications :
Essential :
• Currently pursuing Bachelor's degrees in Psychology, Life Sciences, Mass Communications, Fine Arts or relevant disciplines
• Demonstrable excellence in creative/graphic/artistic expression of scientific concepts
• Ability to manage deadlines and work simultaneously on multiple projects
• Excellent in written, verbal and visual communication skills
Desirable :
• Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva and Adobe Illustrator.
• Experience with content production
Remuneration :
The position comes with consolidated pay subject to institutional guidelines. The same will be discussed with selected candidates only.
