In light of the requisition received through the General Administration Department, Bihar, Patna, for regular appointment to the vacant posts of Technician (Bench Chemist) in the Technician Sub-Category under the Bihar Drugs Control Laboratory Technical Personnel Cadre under the control of the Health Department, Bihar, Patna, online applications are invited from eligible candidates (who are citizens of India) in the prescribed format on the Commission's website btsc.bihar.gov.in from 24.07.2026 to 23.08.2026.

Qualification : (i) D.Pharm or B.Pharm from a recognized university and six (06) months of work experience in the testing and analysis of medicines.
Note : The work experience requirement regarding the testing and analysis of medicines applies to candidates holding either of the aforementioned educational qualifications.
2. Age Limit:-
(i) Minimum age as on 01.08.2026 : 21 years.
Maximum age limit:-
(a) Unreserved: 37 years
(b) Unreserved (Female): 40 years
(c) Backward Class / Extremely Backward Class (Male/Female) : 40 years
(d) Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (Male/Female) : 42 years
The candidate's date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate will be accepted by the Commission.
(ii) In light of General Administration Department Resolution No. 962 dated 22.01.2021, a relaxation of 10 years in the maximum age limit is admissible for persons with disabilities (Divyang).
(iii) In light of General Administration Department Resolution No. 2374 dated 16.07.2007 and Letter No. 13107 dated 20.09.2019, government servants (regularly appointed government servants of the Government of Bihar) who have completed three years of continuous service are granted a relaxation of 5 (five) years in the maximum age limit for moving to a service with a higher pay scale.
(iv) Candidates duly employed on a contractual basis as Technician (Bench Chemist) or in an equivalent post in any non-private laboratory within the State of Bihar (such as those under the Government of Bihar, Central Government, Municipalities, Panchayati Raj Institutions, other public institutions, or military laboratories) may be granted a relaxation in the maximum age limit equivalent to the duration of such employment; any fraction of a working year shall also be included in this calculation. The cut-off date for calculating age relaxation shall be 01.08.2026.
(v) The benefit of age relaxation equivalent to the duration of contractual service and work experience shall be admissible to candidates working on a contract basis only for regular appointment to the same post on which they are currently employed contractually.
(vi) A candidate shall be entitled to avail of only one type of age relaxation from among those specified in Clauses 2 (ii), (iii), (iv), and (v).
Fee:
In accordance with the General Administration Department, Bihar, Patna's Resolution No. 15568, dated 21.08.2025, each candidate must pay a fee of only Rs. 100/- (one hundred rupees).
In addition to the above-mentioned examination fee, candidates will also be required to pay the charges prescribed by various banks. The bank will automatically deduct the application fee as a bank charge upon making the online payment.
Candidates must deposit the application fee online via debit card/credit card/internet banking/UPI, and a copy of the receipt will be retained by the applicant. (Note: Payment of fee shall be accepted through online mode only.)
Selection Process :
The Commission will select candidates based on a written competitive examination and work experience.
(1) The merit list of candidates for selection based on the written competitive examination and work experience will be prepared as follows:
(a) Total marks for the written competitive examination (Computer Based Test) : 75 marks
(b) Work experience marks obtained by the candidate in any equivalent position on contract basis in any non-private laboratory within the State of Bihar (including the Central Government, Government of Bihar, Municipal Corporations, Panchayati Raj Institutions and other public institutions, including military laboratories).
A maximum of 25 marks will be awarded for satisfactory service per year at the rate of five marks per year (for any fraction of a year, the number of working days will be multiplied by 5 and divided by 365 and the proportional marks obtained will be added). : 25 marks
Total : 100 marks
Note : (1) The percentage of marks obtained by a candidate in the written competitive examination will be determined by multiplying the total marks obtained in the said examination by a factor of 0.75. For example, if a candidate has obtained 50 percent marks in total, he/she will be awarded 50 x 0.75 = 37.5 marks.
(ii) Written Competitive Examination - The Commission will conduct the written competitive examination through a Computer Based Test for all candidates.
Examination Syllabus
(a) The question paper for the competitive examination will consist of a total of 100 questions; all questions will be of the multiple-choice objective type. The question paper will be available in both Hindi and English.
(b) The duration of the examination will be two hours, and the total marks will be 400.
(c) Questions will be based on the syllabus prescribed by the requisitioning department. The said syllabus will be published separately on the Commission's website.
(d) The said examination will be conducted in multiple shifts via a Computer-Based Test; since the examination is held in multiple shifts, the results will be prepared using a normalization process.
(e) Negative marking will be applicable for incorrect answers in the examination. 04 marks will be awarded for each correct answer, and 01 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
(f) Normalization process for all candidates based on the said examination.
g) In accordance with Resolution No. 2374 dated 16.07.2007 of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Bihar, and Resolution Memo No. 962 dated 22.01.2021 of the General Administration Department, Bihar, it is mandatory to secure the prescribed minimum qualifying marks in the written examination: 40% for the General category, 36.5% for the Backward Class, 34% for the Extremely Backward Class, and 32% for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), women, and candidates with disabilities (Divyang). Candidates residing outside the state of Bihar (including women and those with disabilities) must secure the minimum qualifying marks prescribed for the General category (40%).
Note : If candidates fail to secure the minimum qualifying marks corresponding to their respective categories in the competitive examination, no claim made by them will be entertained.
(iii) Candidates claiming work experience on a contractual basis will be eligible for the benefits associated with such experience only after qualifying in the written competitive examination. The work experience certificate must be issued by the controlling officer of the concerned institution; details must be entered in the designated column of the application form. Failure to claim work experience in the application will result in the denial of marks for work experience and age relaxation benefits. The duration of work experience will be calculated up to the date of 24.07.2026.
(iv) The format for the work experience certificate for candidates claiming contractual work experience is attached as Appendix-1. Benefits regarding work experience marks and age relaxation will be granted only if the certificate is submitted in the prescribed format. No marks will be awarded if the work experience certificate is submitted in any format other than the one prescribed. (v) In accordance with the rules, candidates who have qualified in the written competitive examination will be invited for document verification based on a category-wise merit list prepared as per the provisions outlined in Clause 5(i) of the advertisement.
Important Instructions
Candidates must ensure that they enter the details regarding qualifications, reservation, and work experience—and upload the corresponding certificates/mark sheets—into the designated columns of the online application form. These documents include:
(i) Original Matriculation certificate
(ii) Mark sheets and original certificates (or provisional certificates) for all years of the D.Pharm or B.Pharm course from a recognized university
(iii) Mandatory work experience certificate related to the testing and analysis of drugs (mandatory for all candidates as per Clause 1 of the advertisement)
(iv) Caste certificate / Non-Creamy Layer certificate / Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate
(v) Permanent residence / Domicile certificate
(vi) Certificate as a grandchild (paternal or maternal) of a freedom fighter from Bihar state
(vii) Disability certificate
(viii) Work experience certificate (in the prescribed format), etc. (for candidates working on a contractual basis in non-private laboratories within Bihar state)
Failure to upload any of the required certificates/mark sheets may result in the cancellation of the candidature at the discretion of the Commission.
Only those certificates/mark sheets mentioned by the candidate in their original online application form will be considered valid. It is mandatory to mention the certificate/mark sheet numbers and dates of issue in the online application and to upload them in the designated columns; furthermore, all such certificates/mark sheets must have been issued on or before 23.08.2026.
• For candidates claiming work experience under Clause 5(iii) of the advertisement, the controlling officer of the concerned institution shall be the competent authority to issue the work experience certificate (in the format attached as Appendix-1) regarding contractual employment.
• Candidates must download and securely retain hard copies of all certificates related to the advertisement and the finally submitted online application. Candidates are required to present these hard copies and self-attested photocopies of all relevant certificates whenever requested by the Commission, including during document verification.
• Certificates/mark sheets that were not mentioned or uploaded in the online application form will not be accepted by the Commission during document verification. Candidates will be solely responsible for any loss of eligibility, reservation benefits, or work experience credit resulting from such omissions, and no claims regarding this will be entertained. During document verification, only those certificates/mark sheets that were uploaded in the online application will be verified against their originals; no other certificates/mark sheets will be accepted by the Commission.
At the time of document verification, candidates must present the certificates/mark sheets (downloaded from the Commission's website) that were originally uploaded with their online application. Candidates are instructed to upload clear and legible documents that have been properly scanned. The Commission reserves the right to cancel the candidature at the time of document verification if a blurred, unclear, dark, or illegible document/certificate is uploaded.
• It is mandatory to present the originals of all certificates and mark sheets mentioned in the application form at the time of document verification. No separate certificates will be accepted by the Commission if the required certificates are not presented or are found to be defective during document verification. The Commission reserves the right to make a decision regarding the eligibility of candidates who fail to comply with these instructions.
• All information related to this advertisement will be published on the Commission's website: www.btsc.bihar.gov.in. Therefore, candidates are advised to regularly check the Commission's website. There is no obligation to publish notices separately in newspapers or to inform candidates via SMS or e-mail.
• Applications other than the prescribed online application for this advertisement—such as printed, typed, or handwritten ones—will not be accepted. Furthermore, applications that are incomplete, unclear, unsigned, or received online after the deadline will be rejected, and the application fee will not be refunded.
• Applicants must fill in all entries in the online application carefully. No changes or corrections to the application will be permitted in the future. The Commission will not be held liable for any errors, and the applicant alone will be responsible for any adverse consequences. (ii) Candidates must thoroughly study the aforementioned guidelines before filling out the online application and ensure that all information entered is accurate and clear. The Commission shall not be held responsible for any failure to strictly adhere to the detailed instructions for filling out the online application, nor for any errors made by the candidate during the data entry process. No representations seeking corrections or modifications in this regard will be entertained. If any discrepancy is found when comparing the information entered in the online application with original certificates or mark sheets, the concerned applicant's candidature will be cancelled.
(iii) Candidates should deposit the online application fee only after verifying and being satisfied with the details regarding their name, date of birth, reservation category, application fee, etc.
(iv) It is the applicant's responsibility to keep the E-mail ID and Mobile Number entered in the online application secure; these must be preserved until the final publication of the selection list. Candidates must enter their own active Mobile Number and E-mail ID while filling out the online application. Under no circumstances should the Mobile Number or E-mail ID of another person be entered.
(v) Merely registering and depositing the online fee does not constitute the completion of the online application process.
(vi) Do not wait for the final date to complete the online application process; ensure all procedures are finished well in advance.
(vii) Photograph: (a) The photograph of the applicant/candidate must be recent (taken within the last three months).
(b) The applicant/candidate's face and head must be visible from top to bottom, and the eyes must be open in the photograph.
(c) The background must be white. There should be no shadows on the photograph. If the applicant wears spectacles, they must remove them while getting the photograph taken.
(d) Candidature may be cancelled if the photograph does not comply with the instructions specified in Clause 15 (vii) (a), (b), and (c).
(viii) Candidates are also instructed to retain at least five additional copies of the photograph uploaded with their application form, so that they can submit them if required or upon the Commission's request.
(ix) The Commission shall not be held responsible for any internet disruptions, incorrect payments, or unsuccessful payments/transaction failures during the online payment process.
(x) The advertisement may be amended as necessary based on instructions received from requisitioning departments/the State Government or decisions made by the Commission up to the final date of application receipt.
Note : 1. Candidates are instructed not to submit an application based on any fake or forged certificates; otherwise, if a certificate is found to be fake at any stage of the selection process, their candidature will be cancelled, and legal action will be taken against them.
2. If certificates, mark sheets, or other documents are found to be erroneous at any stage of the selection process, the Commission reserves the right to cancel the concerned candidate's candidature.
