The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage. The institute started in 1962 and Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital now named “Nehru Hospital” on 7th July 1963.

Applications are invited for the following temporary post in a multicentric, ICMR-CAR project entitled Investigative Centre of Advanced Research in Endotypes of T1D (i-CARE-TID): A national referral centre for research in T1D” under Dr. Naresh Sachdeva, Professor, Department of Endocrinology, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Emoluments per month : Rs 78,000/- + HRA (as per ICMR rules)
Upper Age limit : 45 years on the date of interview.
Essential Qualification : 1. First Class Postgraduate degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry, including the integrated PG degrees, with 5 years post-qualification experience or PhD + 2 years post-qualification experience.
2. Second Class Postgraduate degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry, including the integrated PG degrees, with PhD and three years’ post- qualification experience.
Desirable Experience : Immunology, Molecular Biology, or Cell Biology, Publications in indexed journals.

The appointment is purely temporary until 15.10.2026 and may be extended annually, depending upon the progress of the project which is expected to continue till 15.10.2030. Either side can also terminate the appointment by giving one month’s notice or submission of one month’s fellowship.
