IBAB looking for Project Associate, Scientific Assistant

IBAB is a thriving community of students, and scientists in the fields of bioinformatics and biotechnology. The institute focusses on education, research and promoting entrepreneurship, the three pillars of its activities.

Applications are invited for the position of (a) Project Associate I and (b) Scientific Administrative Assistant for the ‘Centre for Disease Genomics, Bioinformatics and Big Data in Life Sciences and Health Care’ established at IBAB with the support of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. The appointment shall be on contractual basis with consolidated pay, renewable yearly or up to the duration of the project, whichever is earlier.

Project Associate-I (02 Position)
Consolidated fellowship / Pay-slab : Rs. 25,000 + 24% HRA per month
Qualifications
1) Master’s degree (M.Sc./M.Tech./B.Tech. or equivalent) in Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Molecular Biology/ Genetics or related subjects with at least 60% of marks or 6.50 CGPA from a recognized university. Candidates who have qualified any national level examination such as CSIR- UGC-NET including lectureship, DBT- BET and GATE will be preferred. Candidates should possess strong programming skills
Students awaiting results of the qualifying examination can apply if they can provide a provisional passing certificate
Eligibility
1) Ability to code in Python and conversant in understanding scripts in other languages
2) Experience in analysing Next Generation Sequencing Data and the capability to understand Machine/Deep Learning algorithms
3) Ability to maintain accurate lab records and data,' good organisational and prioritisation skills, team spirit and the willingness to absorb new techniques

Scientific Administrative Assistant (01 Position)
Consolidated fellowship / Pay-slab : Rs. 22,320 per month
Qualifications
1) Master’s degree (M.Sc./M.Tech./B.Tech. or equivalent) in Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Molecular Biology/ Genetics or related subjects with at least 60% of marks or 6.50 CGPA from a recognized university. Scope of the Project
The successful candidate will be involved in building bioinformatics resources and tools for genomic data analysis, structural bioinformatics and will be involved in the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing Data and application of machine and deep learning algorithms for prediction of early biomarkers in diseases.

IBAB reserves the right to fix higher criteria for short-listing eligible candidates from the set of applications received based on their qualification and experience relevant to the work. The names of the short listed candidates will be announced on the Institute website (ibab.ac.in) along with the details of the interview dates. Only short-listed candidates will be informed about the interview. Candidates selected for the positions mentioned above should be willing to join the Institute by 10th August 2025.
