The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a growing phenomenon. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 amongst humble surroundings as a small charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST). In 1991, recognizing its potential, the C-DEST was made a "Grant-in-Aid" institute of the Government of Kerala and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (RGC-DEST), becoming the first institute in the country to be named after Sri Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minster of India.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the following positions in a Department of Science & Technology, Government of India funded project entitled "Center for Excellence in Inclusive Technology Interventions for Tribal Heritage Resilience of Kerala" at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram to be implemented at its main campus in Thiruvananthapuram and its field stations at Idukki and Wayanad.

Project Associate -II(2 Positions)

Project Associate -II(Position 1) 
Job Description :
Genetic profiling of traditional varieties of rice.
This position will be at RGCB main campus, Thiruvananthapuram. 

Essential Qualifications
A First Class Masters Degree in Life Sciences or Biotechnology or Chemistry or Biochemistry and 2 years documented relevant experience (after Masters degree) in molecular biology (after Masters degree). Candidates with a doctoral degree having expertise in molecular biology will get preference in the selection procedure.

Project Associate -II(Position 2)
Job Description
Scientific validation of ethno-veterinary products/formulations.
This position will be at RGCB main campus, Thiruvananthapuram.

Essential Qualifications : A First Class Masters Degree in Life Sciences or Biotechnology or Biochemistry or Pharmacology and 2 years relevant documented experience (after Masters degree) in phytochemistry, in vitro cellular assays, etc. Candidates with a doctoral degree having expertise in cell biology, in vitro and in vivo assays will get preference in the selection procedure. 

Age  Below : 35 years as on June 30, 2020. For SC/ST/OBC candidates, age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms. 

Emoluments :  Rs. 35000/- +16% HRA per month.

Project Associate -I (6 Positions)

Job Description 
Project Associate -I (Position 1)  : Nutritional analysis and biochemical profiling of traditional varieties of rice. This position will be at the RGCB Main Campus at Thiruvananthapuram. 
Project Associate -I (Positions 2 & 3)  : Documentation of traditional knowledge and Minor Forest Produce processing and value addition to such products. This position will be at the RGCB Field Station at Idukki and/or Wayanad. 
Project Associate -I (Position 4) : Development of essential oil extraction protocols and value addition to such products. This position will be at the RGCB Field Station at Idukki and/or Wayanad.

Project Associate -I (Position 5)  : Revamping and scientific development of traditional arts and crafts. This position will be at the RGCB Field Station at Idukki and/or Wayanad. 
Project Associate -I (Position 6) : Development and delivering ethno-veterinary medical protocols. This position will be at the RGCB Field Station at Idukki and/or Wayanad.

Essential Qualifications
Project Associate -I (Position 1)  : A First Class Masters Degree in Life Sciences or Biotechnology or Chemistry or Biochemistry
Project Associate -I (Positions 2 to 4)  :
A First Class Masters Degree in Life Sciences or Biotechnology or Chemistry or Biochemistry
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in regional language (Malayalam)

Project Associate -I (Position 5)  :
1. Postgraduate degree or B.Tech in Engineering with documented skills in Fine Arts.
2. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in regional language (Malayalam)
Project Associate -I (Position 6) :
1. BVSc.
2. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in regional language (Malayalam).

Desirable Qualifications 
Candidates with experience in field work and implementation of such R & D programs and community mobilization are preferred.  

Age : Below 35 years as on June 30, 2020. For SC/ST/OBC candidates, age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.

SELECTION PROCESS

Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.

No TA/DA/Other emoluments will be given for appearing in the interview.
