The Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Thiruvananthapuram is an internationally recognised centre providing state-of-the-art facilities for cancer diagnosis, treatment, palliation and rehabilitation and conducting a wide range of research on various type of cancers.  This state-owned premier cancer care hospital and research centre is one among 28 centres in India operating under the 'National Cancer Control Programme' of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India.

Applications are invited for the following posts for Molecular Pathology laboratory under DHR / ICMR funded Project “DHR-ICMR Advanced Molecular Oncology Diagnostic Services (DIAMOnDS)” in the Department of Pathology, Regional Cancer Centre, purely on contract basis [initially for a period of one year]

Qualification for the posts
Essential Qualifications : M.Sc. Life science / MPH/MHA / M. Pharma (Masters of Pharmacy) / Pharm.D (Doctor of Pharmacy) with 4 year of experience in relevant area.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience :
• Ph.D. degree Microbiology/ Biochemistry / Biotechnology subject from a recognized University with 2 years R&D/Teaching experience in the relevant subject.
• Experience in working in Histopathology laboratory with nucleic acid isolation, FISH hybridization and molecular pathology techniques.
• Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools/ Data Management.


Duration of the Employment : One year from* the date of appointment, extendable yearly; maximum upto three years. The Project is likely to continue for three years with yearly extensions.
Responsibilities : The candidate would be expected to perform routine molecular diagnostic techniques such as manual and automated DNA/RNA extraction, nucleic acid amplification tests such as end point PCR, real-time PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis and sequencing (Sanger, NGS). To support and execute the programme and to provide leadership and managerial strength.

Academic responsibilities : Apart from the regular academic work, he/she shall be willing to assist in ongoing research projects.
Desirable Attributes : Experience with next generation DNA sequencing and Real Time PCR analysis, trouble shooting skills, especially ability to optimise PCR, deal with and prevent amplicon contamination and develop new in-house molecular biology assays. Computer skills, knowledge of laboratory information systems and experience with Internal Quality Control and External Quality Assurance programmes are desirable.
