The UPPSC is the state agency authorized to conduct the Civil Services Examination for entry-level appointments to the various Civil Services of Uttar Pradesh. The agency's charter is granted by the Constitution of India. Articles 315 to 323 of Part XIV of the constitution, titled Services Under the Union and the States, provide for a Public Service Commission for the Union and for each state.

Qualification -
Essential-
(1) Degree with 55 percent marks in respective discipline of Engeeneering / Technology or A.M.I.E. (India).
(2) Knowledge of Hindi.
Note-
(1) Where basic degree in concerned discipline is not awarded or where candidates having such degree are not available, basic bachelors degree with respective subject shall be effective of special subject shall be considered.
(2) Experience of Government Institutions, Public Sector Undertaking or Limited Organisations only will be acceptable and will be counted after candidate has attained the prescribed educational qualification.
Preferential - (1) Master's degree in respective discipline. (2) One year Industrial experience.

Age - 21 to 40 Years (Age relaxation as per rules), The upper age limits are relaxable on the advice of the Commission in favour of otherwise well-qualified candidates.
