Siddha Central Research Institute (SCRI) is identified as a potential centre of excellence for clinical research. This Institute is located in the campus of Anna Government Hospital of Indian systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy at Arumbakkam, Chennai. Central Research Institute for Siddha was established in the year 1971. It has all the facilities for preclinical and clinical studies. Pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, pharmacology, literary research, clinical research, Biochemistry, clinical pathology and pharmacy are the various departments functioning under Siddha Central Research Institute.

Post : SRF, Project Associate

Senior Research Fellow (Biotechnology)
Number of vacancies : 01
Period of engagement : Initially I year; extendable up to 1 more year based on performance.
Emoluments : Rs. 42,000 p.m. + 30% HRA as per CCRS norms

Qualifications : Essential :
• M.Sc. in Botany / Plant Sciences, Biotechnology and Life Sciences Ph.D or 3 years of research experience, after the post-graduation, with working experience in the field of DNA Barcoding/Molecular markers for identification of species

Desirable experience :
Hands-on experience in DNA extraction, PCR amplification, sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis
• Familiarity with databases and tools such as BOLD, GenBank, and sequence alignment software
• Experience in preparing scientific reports and publications
• Ability to work independently in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team

Job requirement :
Planning and executing DNA extraction, PCR amplification, and sequencing of standardized barcode regions for collected specimens. Conducting sequence alignment, phylogenetic analysis, and species identification using tools such as MEGA, BLAST, and the BOLD/GenBank databases. Maintaining laboratory records, handling molecular biology equipment, and ensuring sample integrity. Analysing molecular data, compiling results, and drafting technical reports, research papers, and presentations.

Age Limit : Not exceeding 32 years as on closing date for receipt of Application (Age relax- able in the case of SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates as per Government Rules).

Project Associate (Botany)
Number of vacancies : 01
Period of engagement : Initially one year; extendable for 1 more year based on performance.
Emoluments :
(i) 31,000/- p.m. + HRA to Scholars who are selected through
(a) National Eligibility Tests - CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE
or
(b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.
(ii) 25,000/- p.m. + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above as per DST norms.

Qualifications Essential :
Post Graduate Degree in Botany
Desirable experience :
• Research experience in plant taxonomy and molecular biology laboratory and field techniques
• Ability to assist in data collection, analysis, and report writing
• Good communication and organizational skills

Job requirement :
Collection of authentic botanicals in the Scheduled books of Siddha by conducting field trips and raw drugs by market survey, accurately documenting habitat data, GPS coordinates, ecological observations and macroscopy. Plant and Raw Drugs Identification and Herbarium Work by assisting in the taxonomic identification of collected specimens using flora keys, monographs. Preparing, mounting, preservation and cataloguing and digitization of herbarium and raw drug specimens following standard protocols. Image acquisition during fieldwork and laboratory studies and assisting in compiling the data.
