The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, popularly known as the acronym 'TANUVAS', blossomed on 20.09.1989 as the first Veterinary University of the country, through the Tamil Nadu State Government Act 42 of 1989. The seed for the establishment and growth of TANUVAS was sown as early as 1876, when the Madras Veterinary College was started as an Agricultural School in Chennai to offer diploma and certificate course in the field of veterinary and animal sciences.

A Walk -in -Interview will be conducted for the following post under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) funded project at Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, Madras Veterinary College, Chennai -600007

Project Title : Patho-genomics and characterization of locally isolated canine distemper virus Department : Department Veterinary Preventive Medicine, Madras Veterinary College, Chennai-600 007.
Project Tenure : 3 Years

Job Description : • To carry out cell culture work and molecular work designed by PI and Co- PIs pertaining to the above funded project.
• To collect the specimens from the suspected animals in and around Chennai.
• To keep and maintain the record of the results in presentable form (Soft as well as hard copy).
• To keep a track of contingencies/consumables required for the work and assist in the process of files for procurement of the equipment and consumables.
• To assist the PI in preparation of various reports related to the research work.

Essential Qualification : BS 4 years programme/BPharm/MBBS/BVSc/Integrated BS- MS/MSc/BE/BTech or equivalent degree, with 55% marks and passing of NET / GATE test
Desirable Qualification : • Experience in basic microbiological techniques/GLP
• Cell culture and Virus propagation
• Viral passaging and standardization of MOI.
• Molecular diagnostic techniques

Age Limit : 28Yrs
Age relaxation : The upper age limit is relax-able up-to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to women, scheduled castes/tribes/OBC/and physically handicapped candidates.

Fellowship : Junior Research Fellow (JRF)- Rs.37,000/-p.m. plus HRA as per CSIR guideline.

• The post is purely temporary for about 3 years and co-terminus with the project.
• Eligible candidates with full bio data are requested to walk-in to Department Veterinary Preventive Medicine, Madras Veterinary College, Chennai - 600007 for a written test followed by interview for only short-listed candidates on 05.01.2026 at 10.00 am with original certificates in support of age, qualifications, photo ID card, experience certificate and proofs for any other credentials. The written exam would be for one-hour duration with multiple-choice questions.
• Working personnel are requested to attend the interview with No Objection letter from the present employer.
• No TA and DA will be provided for attending the interview.
