The National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) is an Institute of Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. This is the first institution in India explicitly devoted to research, training, translation & service and capacity-building in Biomedical Genomics. It is located in Kalyani, West Bengal, India, near Kolkata.

On-line Interview will be conducted for the position of Project Linked Personnel for extramural projects to be executed by BRIC-National institute of Biomedical Genomics, Kalyani. Selected Candidate will initially be appointed till 05.10.2026.
Project Name & Funding Authority : “Whole Genome Sequencing of MTB Clinical Strains for determining Drug Resistance and Strain Linkage in India” (DBT)
Project Description : The focus of this study is nation-wide use of a whole genome sequencing-based approach to understand the distribution of MTB strains and prevalence of drug resistance in relation to favourable and unfavourable treatment outcomes in pulmonary and extra-pulmonary TB cases in India. NIBMG is looking for motivated and bright individuals interested in exploring career opportunities in this multi-organization research project as follows.
Essential Educational Qualification : 1) Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate/ Post Graduate Degree in Professional Courses selected through a process described through any one of the following : i) Scholars who are selected through CSIR-UGC NET including Lecturer ship and GATE. ii) The selection Process through National Level Examination conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR etc.
2) 2 years of research experience
3) Age not exceeding 35 years.
Desirable Qualification : Experience in genome sequencing and data analysis of pathogens as evidenced by at least 1 peer reviewed publication. At least 2 peer reviewed publications in biology/genetics/microbi ology after PhD. 1. NET/GATE/BET or any other National Level Examination 2. Experience in genomics and/or M.Tb research 3. At least one peer reviewed publication (research review or report) in biology/genetics/ge nomics.
Nature of Duty : Management and coordination of genome sequencing of M. tb samples received in NIBMG, QA/QC of sequencing data and submission to project data repository for analysis, analysis of sequencing data and scientific interpretation, preparation of scientific reports and manuscripts, any other work in the project assigned by PI and Co-PI Genome sequencing of M. Tb samples received in NIBMG, QA/QC and analysis of sequencing data, any other work in the project assigned by PI and Co-PI
Consolidated and fixed monthly emolument : Rs. 42,000/- +HRA
*Candidates who have not cleared any National Level Examination but have other criteria as mentioned above can also apply. If selected, he/she will get remuneration of Rs. 28000/- + HRA. In that case he/she will be designated as Project Associate-II.
