Work for JRF position at University of Calcutta for antibiotics research

The Court of Directors of the East India Company sent a despatch in July, 1854 to the Governor-General of India in Council, suggesting the establishment of the Universities of Calcutta, Madras and Bombay.  In pursuance of that despatch, the University of Calcutta was founded on JANUARY 24, 1857.  The University adopted in the first instance, the pattern of the University of London and gradually introduced modifications in its constitution

Applications are invited for one JRF position in a DST-SERB sponsored research project (File No. EMR/2017/001627; Diary No. SERB/F/8403/2018-2019, Dt. 23/10/2018) entitled “Design and Synthesis of Photoswitchable Chemotherapy Drugs and Antibiotics” under Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Subhas Samanta, Department of Chemistry, University of Calcutta, 92, A. P. C. Road, Kolkata 700009.

Qualification: M.Sc. in Chemistry (with Organic Specialization)/ Medicinal Chemistry/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry with 55% marks and NET / GATE qualified. Candidate having experience in organic synthesis, molecular docking and modeling, etc. will get preference.

Age limit: 28 years (Relaxed up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/OBC/Women/PH candidates)

Duration of project: Three years (3 years)

Emolument: Consolidated pay of Rs. 25,000/- per month (1st and 2nd Year), Rs. 28,000/- per month (3rd Year)

The selected candidate will be considered as a JRF and will be paid as mentioned above for the initial two years. The fellowship will be provided for the first year. Continuation of the fellowship is subjected to satisfactory performance and review at the end of each year. After completion of two years, the fellowship will be upgraded to SRF and will be paid higher emolument as mentioned above.

Interview date and Venue: The interview will be held on 31/01/2019 at 3.00 PM in the office of the Head of The Department of Chemistry, CU. Candidates are requested to bring their original certificates at the time of interview.

**No TA/DA will be paid to attend the interview.
