Job Description
To design and manage the end-to-end business processes for the Patient Access Services within PLS. The primary purpose of the role is to define and optimize PLS-wide processes that set out how and where work should be done within the PLS delivery model, maximizing efficiency and customer delivery quality. The role includes work to fit PLS processes into customer processes, including driving standardization between Business Units / Divisions and governing supporting IT systems. The role drives adoption by working collaboratively within a complex matrix, ensuring that processes meet both high design standards and high levels of practicality. Set the strategic agenda for Patient Access

• Work with the Product Lead for Patient Access to set and evolve the service strategy and innovation plans for all services within scope of the product.

• Define and deliver all strategic projects for PLS Patient Access Services.

• Work with the PLS PMO, Program Leads and practice to prioritize the projects.

• Secure resources to work on those projects, including Program Leads, Transition Managers, delivery resources, IT, Procurement, customer and other supporting roles.

• Ensure appropriate company-wide governance over those projects. Own and drive the development and maintenance of end-to-end business processes

• Champion the PLS process-led design approach, which ensures that services are well designed and implemented, delivering high quality, compliant outputs at affordable prices.

• Ensure robust checks and controls are in place for all services, so that they are compliant with SOPs and legal, QA and risk processes.

• Develop, review and amend SOPs where needed.

• Coach and guide the Global Service Leads and Program Leads to help in country and NGSC operations teams adopt the designed processes.

• Represent and explain the process to key stakeholders. To include explaining the design to key customers and training delivery teams in the use of the process.

• Work with business customers on key strategic projects within the scope of the services covered. For example: the implementation of Step Change

• Understand process exceptions that emerge and either accommodate them in the design or help eliminate them, working through the Global Service Leads and local operations leads. Benchmark best practices with peer companies and suppliers

• Work with the Product Lead for Patient Access to foster a culture of innovation within the entire global delivery team.

• Attend industry conferences, bringing the best from the outside into Novartis and PLS.

• Work with the support of the Program Leads and Procurement to benchmark the prices and approach to all services each year, reviewing and agreeing PLS pricing in conjunction with Finance. Improve processes over time

• Set process performance KPIs and monitor the performance of processes and resolve process issues.

• Track the attainment of those goals and understand the reasons for successes and misses, using that understanding to help represent the ‘voice of the process’ inside PLS. Financial and Business Results:

• Incremental Novartis savings delivered and enabled from previous year’s work

• Year on year reduction in cost to serve for specific services Strategy/Customer Focus:

• Percentage of priority services with up-to-date strategy

• Level of adoption of strategic processes

• Conversion rate of in-country activities to service model, versus plan Soft Skills:

• Advanced collaboration skills

• Strong ability to develop and manage internal stakeholder relationships

 

Candidate Profile
University degree. Desirable: Further education in:

• Shared services, outsourcing, global sourcing

• Project management/Coaching

• 6-Sigma, Lean education/training

• Master of Business Admin

• Proficiency in English (read/ write/ speak) At least 10 years’ expert experience leading work in the scope of Patient Access, so that the person is seen as a credible expert by other stakeholders: practice (delivery leads), business partners, countries, collaborators (e.g. IT), customers and suppliers. The incumbent will be making judgement calls on how best PLS and Novartis BUs should approach key business processes. Ideally some of this experience will have been gained in country and global roles within Novartis, or an alternative similar Pharmaceuticals company. Other key experiences would be:

• Knowledge of how shared services, outsourcing and PLS works.

• Track record of strategic planning and execution on complex projects

• Experience of operational service delivery

• Ability to work strategically, but with an operational mind-set

• Advanced collaboration skills, so that the processes are practical, are adopted by delivery teams and customers and meet exacting standards

• A strong working understanding of the core commer
