Importance of Health Technology Assessment-The Government of India is committed to extend healthcare services to its 1.44 billion population and is constantly making endeavours to provide affordable and quality healthcare. The government strives to provide affordable healthcare to its citizens within the available resources with optimal resource allocation. Health Technology Assessment (HTA), is a widely used methodology globally, for evidence generation for decision making in healthcare sector and for optimization of resource utilization in health.
Applications are invited from eligible candidates possessing the essential qualifications given below for Scientist D/Scientist C under the Regional Resource Centre – Health Technology Assessment in India (RRC-HTAIn), Indian Institute of Science, for the year 2026. The positions are purely temporary/contractual and are to be filled under the project at Indian Institute of Science.
Scientist D (Medical / Non-Medical)
Age limit : 45 years
Salary : ₹78,000 + HRA
Essential Qualification – Medical
• Post Graduate Degree (MD/MS/DNB/MPH) after MBBS with 6 years research experience in the relevant field.
• Or MBBS degree with 8 years’ experience or Post Graduate Diploma in medical subjects after MBBS with 5 years’ experience in the relevant subject.
• Or Ph. D in the relevant subject (Community Medicine/ Preventive & Social Medicine/ Paediatrics/ Medicine/ Tropical Medicine/ Community Health Administration/Health Administration/ Family Medicine/ Epidemiology/ Public Health) from a recognized university with 5 years’ experience in the relevant field Plus 2 years’ experience in the management of R & D projects in a team effectively.
Essential Qualification – Non-Medical
• Ph.D. degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology from a recognized University with 5 years’ R&D/Teaching experience in the relevant subject after Ph.D.
• OR First class MPH/Pharm D (Doctor of Pharmacy)/Master’s degree in the relevant subjects from a recognized university with 8 years’ R&D/teaching experience in the relevant subject after 1st Class Master’s Degree.
• OR Second class M.Sc/MPH + Ph.D. degree in the relevant subject from a recognized University with 8 years’ R&D/teaching experience in the relevant subject post qualification, plus 2 years’ experience in the management of R&D projects in a team effectively.
Desirable Qualification
• Post-doctoral research/teaching experience in relevant subjects in recognized Institute(s).
• Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools/Data Management.
Job Description
• To support and execute the ongoing and new programs of RRC and provide leadership and managerial strength in R&D studies in the area of HTA research.
• Responsible for the scientific and/or technical aspects of the implementation of HTA projects of the RRC.
• Invitation of applications/proposals from the States/Medical Colleges/Institutions for HTA studies.
• Submission of proposals for recommendations of the Technical Appraisal Committee.
• Seeking clarifications from the States/applicants on various issues/points.
• Submission of proposals along with the recommendations to the committees.
• Contribute to drafting official reports, including summaries of workshops and events.
• Conduct workshops, seminars and meetings.
• Senior Scientific Staff will be leading the activities of RRC.
• Any other work assigned by the RRC.
Scientist C (Medical / Non-Medical)
Age limit : 40 years
Salary : ₹67,000 + HRA
Essential Qualification – Medical
• MBBS degree with 6 years’ experience or Post Graduate Diploma in medical subjects after MBBS with 5 years’ experience in the relevant subject.
• Or Post Graduate Degree (MD/ MS/ DNB/ MPH) after MBBS with 4-year research experience in the relevant field.
Desirable Qualification
• Doctorate (Ph.D.) in the relevant subject (Community Medicine/ Preventive & Social Medicine/ Pediatrics/ Medicine/ Tropical Medicine/ Community Health Administration/Health Administration/ Family Medicine/ Epidemiology/ Public Health) from a recognized university.
• Additional Post-doctoral research/teaching experience in relevant subjects in recognized institute(s).
• Knowledge of Computer Applications/Data Management.
Essential Qualification – Non-Medical
• M.Sc. Life science/ MPH/MHA/ M. Pharm (Masters of Pharmacy) /Pharm. D (Doctor of Pharmacy) with 4 year of experience in relevant area.
Desirable Qualification
• Ph.D. degree Microbiology/ Biochemistry / Biotechnology subject from a recognized University with 2 years R&D/Teaching experience in the relevant subject.
• Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools/ Data Management.

However, if no suitable candidate is identified for appointment at this level, the Institute reserves the right to offer appointment at the Scientist C level to a deserving candidate from among the shortlisted applicants, as deemed appropriate by the Selection Committee. • Qualification and experience should be in the relevant discipline/field and from a reputed institution/organization recognized by the relevant authority.
• Mere fulfilment of the essential qualification/experience does not guarantee selection.
• The appointment will be made on the basis of the results of interview/personal discussion through video conferencing mode.
