BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI) is an autonomous Institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. BRIC-NABI aims at catalysing the transformation of the Agri- food sector in India by being a nodal organization for knowledge generation and translational science leading to value-added products based on Agri-Food biotech innovations for improved household nutritional security. Since its inception in 2010, BRIC-NABI is involved in research activities for Bio-fortification, the development of designer crops for improved nutrition, providing sustainable and novel solutions for quality food and nutrition, and the development of evidence-based functional foods to counter malnutrition.

Research Associate-I (RA-I) (One position)
Project Title : “Genetic dissection of disease resistance against necrotrophic pathogens in Brassica carinata and its prospects for transfer into Brassica juncea (Indian mustard)” (GAP-114)
Principle Investigator : Dr. Sivasubramanian R, Scientist-D, BRIC-NABI
Duration : 1 year; may be extended based on research progress and performance.

Desirable Experience : 1. Enthusiastic and highly motivated candidate interested in genetics and genomics of crop species.
2. Research experience in genomics data, GWAS, QTL analysis, NGS data analysis, genome sequencing & assembly, and comparative genomics, evidenced by relevant publications/preprints.
3. Research experience in plant-pathogen interactions or plant pathology.

Desirable Experience : 1. Research experience in large-scale phenotyping and phenomics.
2. Research experience in development of genetic populations in plants and genotyping.
3. Research experience in plant-pathogen interactions or plant pathology.
Responsibilities : Genomic and phenotyping work including DNA isolation, QC and field phenotyping experiments; assist in data collection, analysis, documentation and coordination within the multi-institute framework.

1. Genetic and metabolic engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae or other yeast species.
2. CRISPR/Cas-based genome engineering and advanced molecular cloning techniques.
3. Synthetic biology approaches for heterologous expression and reconstruction of biosynthetic pathways in yeast.
4. Promoter engineering, pathway optimization and strain development for enhanced metabolite production.
5. Bioinformatics tools for sequence analysis, codon optimization, pathway design and metabolic flux analysis.
