The Imperial Bacteriological Laboratory (IBL) established at Pune in 1889, was first led by Dr Alfred Lingard, as In-charge of the laboratory in 1890. Two years later, it was felt that handling highly infectious micro-organisms and pathological materials in a densely populated city like Pune is hazardous. Consequently, the laboratory was shifted in 1893 to an isolated site amidst the dense conifer forest of Mukteswar in the Kumaon hills of United Province located at about 1500 m above the mean sea level. Cattle plague or rinderpest was the most devastating disease in those days and the institute gave top priority for controlling this deadly disease. In fact, the first batch of anti-rinderpest serum was produced in 1899.
Post : Young Professional I (Two)
Walk-in-interview for the post of Young Professionals-I (YP-I) under National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP-FMD and Brucellosis) under Livestock Health & Disease Control Programme (LHDCP) will be held on 13.08.2026. All desirous and eligible candidates fulfilling criteria are invited to attend the walk-in-interview on 13.08.2026 at 9:00 AM in the institute premises. The positions are purely temporary, with an initial appointment up to 30.09.2026, extendable solely based on performance.
Education Qualification required : Graduate in Science/Life Sciences (Biotechnology/Microbiology /Biochemistry or its equivalent in Science stream). OR Diploma in Agricultural Sciences/Health Sciences/ /Technology
Desirable Experience : Working experience in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, proficiency in computer skills (MS office, Excel, PPT). Laboratory animal handling.
Emoluments (per month) : Rs.30000/- (consolidated)
Terms and conditions :
1. Any changes with regard to selection/schedule of interview will be notified at the Institute’s website only.
2. The desirous and eligible candidates fulfilling criteria must bring duly filled application form, original certificates along with one set self-attested copies of certificates / documents for verification at the time of interview.
3. All the eligible candidates attending interview should be present at the Institute campus before 9 AM on the date of interview.
4. Candidates without original certificates/documents will not be allowed to attend the interview.
5. Applications not in prescribed proforma, incomplete are liable to be rejected.
6. The candidate should hold Degree certificate on the date of interview (at least Provisional Certificate), if applicable in original in respect of Graduation, Post-Graduation, Ph.D. (website results/awaiting for results candidates will not be allowed/considered).
7. The above positions are purely on temporary basis.
8. There is no provision for absorption/re-employment after termination of the contract. The service of person, who are engaged, will automatically stand terminated with the termination of the contract. However, selected candidate may be discontinued owing to administrative reasons at any time. The selected candidate may also leave the assignment on their own, by giving one-month notice.
9. Crucial date for determining the age limit will be the date of interview.
10. The Income Tax or any other tax liable to be deducted as per the prevailing rules will be deducted at source before effecting payment of monthly salary.
11. Person already in employment should submit "No Objection Certificate" from their present employer.
12. Initially, the tenure will be up to 30.09.2026. This will be extendable based on continuity of the project, satisfactory performance and fund availability.
13. The notified vacancies may increase or decrease as per the requirement of the Institute /Project.
14. The minimum age will be 21 years and maximum age is 45 years as on last date of submission of application with relaxation as per rules.
15. No TA, DA will be paid for attending the interview.
16. Canvassing in any form will lead to cancellation of candidature.
17. The decision of Director, ICAR-IVRI, is final and binding in all aspects.
