The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage.
Post : Junior Research Fellow
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for an Extramural (funded by DST-ANRF; Project ID: CRG/2023/007689) research project entitled “Novel neurovascular organoids to understand the neuropathogenesis of non-polio enterovirus” at Department of Virology at PGIMER, Chandigarh on a tenure basis. The following post will be filled up on a purely contractual basis.

Essential qualification :
a) Masters in Virology/Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Life Sciences/Genetics from a recognized institution with first class aggregate
b) Scholars who are selected through national eligibility Tests-CSIR-UGC, NET, (including Cat-1, 11 and 111), GATE or any National level examination conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICMR, IIT, IISc, USER, etc
Desirable : a) Prior experience in molecular, and cell culture work will be preferred.
Upper age limit (in Years) : Upto 35 years*
*Age relaxation as per GOI rules
Emoluments per month : 37,000/- + HRA as per norms of funding agency
The terms & conditions for the posts are as follows
1. The project duration is till September 2027 but initially the engagement of the individual in the post will be on a temporary basis up to 31.12.2025. The same will be extended depending on the annual extension of the project from the funding agency and satisfactory performance of the candidate as assessed from time to time.
2. The appointment can be terminated with one-month notice from either side without assigning any reason.
3. Since the post is purely temporary, the incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointments under PGIMER, Chandigarh.
4. Benefits of provided funds, CCA Leave, Travel Concession, Medical Claim etc. are not applicable.
5. Persons already in regular time scale service under any Government Department Organization are not eligible to apply.
6. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the same.
7. The candidate will be expected to join within 10 days from the date of issue of appointment letter.

• All candidates should bring valid ID proof at the time of written exam.
• Top 10 Candidates in the written examination will be called for the interview on the same 2:00 pm.
• Document verification will be conducted in Lecture Theatre, Department of Virology, 6th floor,
PGIMER prior to the interview only for those candidates who dear the written test. If a candidates is found ineligible during document verification, his/her candidature will be cancelled. The candidates should carry the original documents as well as one set of photocopies of the following document
1. 10th class certificate (as DOB proof)
2. Masters degree
3. National exam qualified certificate
4. Experience letter (if applicable)
5. Research Publication .
6. CV with photograph
