The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage. The institute started in 1962 and Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital now named “Nehru Hospital” on 7th July 1963. The Institute was originally under the Government of undivided Punjab.

Post : Senior Research Fellow

Applications are invited for the following temporary post in a CS1R funded project entitled, “Elucidating the role of beta-cell DNA complexes in activation of plasmacytoid dendritic cells and monocytes in pathogenesis of type-1 diabetes” under Dr. Naresh Sachdeva, Additional Professor, Department of Endocrinology, PGIMER, Chandigarh.

Essential Qualification: Masters in Life Sciences; Biotechnology, Microbiology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry with at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master's Degree with at least 2 years research experience in Immunology/Cell Biology/Molecular biology.

Preference would be given to candidates with National Research Fellowship (CSIR-UGC NET/ICMR-JRF/DBT/DST-INSPIRE/GATE etc).

Desirable: Publications in indexed journals.

Emoluments per month: Rs 28,000/- + HRA (@20%)

Upper Age limit: 30 years (relaxable for 5 years in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH/women candidates as per GOI rules) on the date of interview.
