The National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE) was established on July 2, 1999 by merging the Central JALMA Institute for Leprosy (CJIL Field Unit), Avadi with the Institute for Research in Medical Statistics (IRMS), Chennai. The broad objectives of the Institute cover Development of human resources in epidemiology and bio-statistics, Networking of the various ICMR and non-ICMR Institutes at the national level for epidemiological purposes, and Consultancy.

Project Technical Officer (Lab) - (01 UR)
Name of the Project : Model District for Public Health Preparedness, Surveillance and Response: Multi-Strategic Integrated Approach in Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, India
Place of Posting : NIE, Chennai
Essential Qualification : Graduate degree in Microbiology / Medical Lab Technology from a recognized University with five years diagnostic / research work experience in the relevant subject from a recognized institution. (OR) Master’s degree in Microbiology / Medical Lab Technology from a recognized University
Desirable Qualification and Experience : With good knowledge and understanding of standard microbiology principles and practices Work experience in diagnostic microbiology Work experience in antimicrobial resistance testing

Emoluments : Rs 32,000/- per month
Age Limit : 30 years
Nature of Duties
a) Perform laboratory testing for antimicrobial resistance
b) Responsible for maintenance of laboratory records, reports, inventory (logistics and samples)
c) Coordinating with other project lab and field personnel
d) Contribute to preparation of project technical support
e) Day to day reporting to study investigators on assigned work / project activities
f) Perform any other work assigned by the Director / PI / Co-PI / Supervisory Officer

Duration : 6 months (renewable for the project duration subject to performance and project requirement)

Project Technical Officer (Field) - (01 OBC)

Essential Qualification : Graduate in Life Science / Social Science subjects / Public Health / Epidemiology from a recognized University with five years work experience from a recognized institution (OR) Master’s Degree in Life Science / Social Science subjects / Public Health / Epidemiology from a recognized University
Desirable Qualification and Experience : Working experience in health facility / field data collection and supervision Knowledge of computer applications

Emoluments : Rs 32,000/- per month
Age Limit : OBC – 33 years (including 3 years of age relaxation)
Nature of Duties
a) Responsible for coordinating / supervising the field activities
b) Coordinate with staff in field for sample and data collection
c) Should be able to perform data collection if required
d) Contribute to preparation of project technical reports
e) Day to day reporting to study investigators on assigned work / project activities
f) Perform any other work assigned by the Director / PI / Co-PI / Supervisory Officer

Duration : 6 months (renewable for the project duration subject to performance and project requirement)
