The history of the IIT system dates back to 1946 when a committee was set up by Hon'ble Sir Jogendra Singh, Member of the Viceroy's Executive Council, Department of Education, Health and Agriculture to consider the setting up of Higher Technical Institutions for post war industrial development in India. The 22 member committee headed by Sri N.R.Sarkar, in its report, recommended the establishment of four Higher Technical Institutions in the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern regions, possibly on the lines of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, with a number of secondary institutions affiliated to it.

Project Title : An SPH-based Parallel Solver (Software) for Simulating 2-D Mechanical Response under IMPact Load with Improved Accuracy and Time Complexity(BLT)

Consolidated Compensation : Upto Rs.58000 (depending upon qualification & experience)

Qualifications and Relevant Experience : Research associates may be fixed at a consolidated amount at one of the 3 pay levels given below depending upon the qualification and experience. The Institute/Organization concerned may decide the level in which a particular associate should be placed based on the experience.

The Essential Qualification (EQ) for RA is as follows : Ph.D./MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/M.Pharm/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.

Desirable Criteria :
1. Hands on experience with particle-based continuum scale techniques (such as SPH, Peridynamics, etc.)
2. Ability to write programs in C or C++

Age Limit : 35 (Age rules may be relaxed upon fulfilling sponsor agency rules, if any)
Tenure : 36 Months or the termination of the project, whichever is earlier.
