Applications are invited from eligible candidates to work on the following post(s) on a contract basis in a research project funded by an external agency at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, as per the details below.

Recruitment to Project Posts

Senior Research Fellow (01) (Bioinformatics)
Likely duration : 1 year subjected to extension for another year
Consolidated remuneration : Rs. 47,000 + (*HRA 20%) Rs. 9400 = Rs. 56,400/-
Project title : Molecular and Pharmacogenetic marker evaluation in relation to toxicity and clinical response of acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment in Indian children (MPGx-INDALL)
Funding Agency : DBT

Nature of work/responsibilities and expectations
Whole exome sequencing analysis of the data obtained within the project, Genotyping analyses, assistance in statistical association analyses of the project generated sequencing data and clinical data interpretation of the results, documentation of the results, Scientific progress reports and Manuscript writing.
Eligibility criteria (Qualifications and experience)
A. Essential :
• M.Tech in Computational biology with lyear experience
(OR)
• M.Sc in bioinformatics/Computational biology with life science background NET/GATE qualification
(OR)
• M.Sc in bioinformatics/Computational biology with life science background with atleast 60% aggregate marks AND 2 years of research experience
(OR)
• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics/computational biology
B. Desirable :
• Experience gained in the field of bioinformatics; Data analysis, Sequencing Techniques and NGS.
C. Maximum Age Limit : 35 years (as on last date of receipt of applications)
D. Evaluation criteria

After the evaluation of the application form, the recruitment process will be as follows:
a. Written test :
• Basic bioinformatics analysis and genetic association studies
• NGS pipelines
• Basic knowledge of cancer
• Knowledge about clinical research
• Knowledge on Pharmacogenetics
b. Skill Test (specify areas which will be covered-if required)
c. Interview : Interview will be based on the topics mentioned above in the nature of work.

Project Technical Support III (01)
Likely duration : 1 year subjected to extension for another year
Consolidated remuneration : Rs. 28,000 + 20% HRA = Rs. 33,600/-
Project title : Molecular and Pharmacogenetic marker evaluation in relation to toxicity and clinical response of acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment in Indian children (MPGx-INDALL)

Nature of work / responsibilities and expectations
To perform genotyping of the candidate genetic variants, LC-MS/MS, Routine sample processing, DNA extraction, and performing tasks assigned by PI.
Eligibility criteria (Qualifications and experience)
A. Essential :
• B.Sc. Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Biochemistry or Equivalent degree AND 3 years of research experience
(OR)
• M.Sc. Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Biochemistry or Equivalent degree.
B. Desirable :
Experience gained should be in the field of molecular biology techniques, real time PCR, LC- MS/MS.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and statistical software.
C. Maximum Age Limit: 35 years (as on last date of receipt of applications)
D. Evaluation Criteria

After the evaluation of the application form, the recruitment process will be as follows :
1. Written test
The written test will assess the following areas:
• Molecular Biology
• Pharmacogenetics
• Clinical research (oncology)
• Fundamentals of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
• Basic knowledge of cancer, with a focus on Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
• Data entry skills.
• Proficiency in basic Excel and MS Word.
2. Interview
The interview will be conducted by a panel of experts and will evaluate the applicants:
• Communication skills.
• Knowledge in Molecular biology
• Understanding of clinical research and GCP and GLP principles.
• Aptitude for the role.

Terms and Conditions
1. This position is purely on contract basis for an externally sponsored project, and the person engaged will have no claim to any regular post in JIPMER at any time. Further, the position is only for the duration of the project and based purely on external funding support for the project.
2. The engagement may be extended or curtailed at discretion of the Project Investigator.
3. Qualification and experience should be in a relevant discipline/field and in a reputed institution/organization. The experience should have been gained after acquiring the essential qualification.
4. Qualification, experience, other terms, and conditions may be relaxed/ altered at the discretion of the Principal Investigator.
5. Valid email ID and mobile number are compulsory.
6. Consolidated salary of the post may vary from time to time. No other allowance/facilities other than consolidated salary shall be extended.
7. Submission of wrong or false information at any stage during the process of selection or canvassing of any kind will lead to disqualification or even termination if detected after the person has been engaged.
8. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and/or interview. Decision of the Project Investigator will be final. If the number of applications is very large, more stringent criteria than those specified above may be used to determine eligibility.
9. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
10. Incomplete applications and applications that are not in the prescribed format and those not fulfilling the essential criteria above are likely to be summarily rejected. Candidates may attach their CVs with the application form. However, applications with CV alone and without the prescribed form and certificates will be rejected.
