Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), an autonomous research institution under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and a Deemed to be University, invites applications from well-qualified candidates for engagement as Project Scientist III at the Evolutionary and Organismal Biology Unit (EOBU), purely on contract basis for a period of one year from the date of engagement, which may be reviewed at the end of one year, as per functional requirement.
Post : Project Scientist III (01 Post)
Essential Qualification : Doctoral degree in Science, with a PhD thesis in some area of ecology or evolution, from a recognised university or equivalent AND Seven years of experience in R&D in industrial and academic institutions or S&T organisations and scientific activities and services.
Expertise desired : The successful candidate will have proven expertise in conducting research in theoretical/computational and experimental ecology or evolution, and be able to teach topics in areas such as population and community ecology, epidemiology and evolutionary ecology, among others. Teaching experience in core areas of ecology and evolution is desirable.
Job Description : The candidate is required to assist with the Integrated BS(Res)-PhD programme, which will include developing and teaching at least two semester-long 4-credit courses, and helping students to plan and execute research projects as part of the programme in the Evolutionary & Organismal Biology Unit (EOBU) of the Centre.
Period of Engagement :. The assignment will be purely on contract basis. The initial engagement would be for a period of one year, extendable on requirement and performance review. The selected candidate is required to join no later than July 31st, 2026. Age Limit : Preferably below 40 years of age as on the last date of receipt of application.
Upper age limit : 55 years.
Remuneration : Rs. 1,07,000/- p.m. plus HRA (as per ANRF norms)
Selection Procedure : Selection will be carried out by a Selection Committee set up for the purpose. Candidates meeting the essential qualifications and with the desired expertise will be considered for further shortlisting.
Working facilities to be provided : Basic facilities/infrastructure will be provided to the candidate. No Transport or Telephone/Internet facility at residence, stenographic/clerical support, etc.., shall be provided.
Other entitlements :
Leave : Paid leave of absence will be allowed as per norms of the Centre for each completed month of service. Accumulation of leave beyond a calendar year is not allowed.
Allowances : No TA / DA / CCA / accommodation, or any other such allowance will be provided.
Accident, Injury, etc.., during the period of engagement : The Centre shall not be responsible for any loss, accident, damage, injury suffered by the candidate whatsoever arising in or out of the execution of his/her work, including travel.
