ICGEB-JNU PhD Fellowships

The ICGEB is a unique intergovernmental organisation initially established as a special project of UNIDO. Autonomous since 1994, it runs 46 state-of-the-art laboratories, in Trieste, Italy, New Delhi, India and Cape Town, South Africa and forms an interactive network with over 65 Member States. It plays a key role in Biotechnology worldwide for excellence in Research, Training and Technology Transfer to industry to contribute in concrete terms to the achievement of sustainable global development and its operations are aligned to those of the United Nations System.

The ICGEB-JNU PhD Programme is conducted in three streams : 1. Molecular Medicine, 2. Plant Biology and 3. Integrative Biology and is run exclusively at ICGEB New Delhi.

Eligibility
Candidates with: First class (60% or equivalent grade) M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, etc.) or M.Tech. or M.B.B.S. or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and have cleared any one of the following examinations: DBT (I), CSIR, UGC, ICMR, BINC, or any other equivalent Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) examination and fellowships valid for at least four years are eligible to apply.
Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the same year may also apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfillment of the above requirements at the time of joining.
Candidates with only GATE and DBT (II) are NOT eligible.

Guidelines
Every year applications are invited during the months of March through May via the online portal. Admissions are offered on the basis of the performance in the written examination and interviews conducted at ICGEB, New Delhi.
After admission candidates must successfully complete the Graduate Course work to be eligible for Ph.D. registration. The minimum duration for the Ph.D. is three years. Upon successful completion of the viva voce examination, the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is awarded by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.

a) Original and Self Attested copy of M.Sc. Degree Certificate
b) Original and Self Attested copy of M.Sc. Final year Marksheet
c) Original and Self Attested copy of valid Fellowship Award letter
d) Original and Self Attested copy of 10th Class Certificate
e) Original and Self Attested copy of caste certificate if applicable
f) Online transfer of Rs. 15,000/- towards one time admission fee and security deposit for the Ph.D. Programme at ICGEB, New Delhi. For bank details contact Academic Division.
