With a coastline of about 3,500 miles, inland sources in Rajasthan and Little Rann of Kutch, and the rock salt mines in Mandi, India have possibilities of attaining a high position in salt production among the salt producing countries of the world. As is known, apart from being an indispensable item of food, salt is an important raw material for the manufacture of several heavy chemicals e.g. soda ash, caustic soda and chlorine. Besides, salt is used in food processing industries, such as fish curing, meat packing, dairy products and fruit and vegetable canning.

CSIR-CSMCRI Marine Algal Research Station has been pioneer in developing seaweed farming technologies in the country. It has also commercialized many cultivation technologies impacting the social up-liftment of coastal communities. As a part of its endeavour to develop technology  on commercial cultivation of economic seaweeds through spore under NFDB, Hyderabad  funded project  entitled “Mass culture of spores and supply of plantlets for commercial cultivation of seaweeds (Gracilaria edulis) in the coastal areas of Ramanathapuram District” the field station would like to invite applications from young and dynamic candidates willing to work with creative and innovation.

Qualification
M.Sc. Botany / Marine Biology / Biotechnology/ Marine Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology with minimum 55% marks.

Salary :- Rs. 25,000/-(consolidated)

Job description : The selected candidate shall be working on Mass culture of spores  of Gracilaria in the laboratory and field condition in the sea.

Age limit : 30 years as on date of interview (age relaxation as per CSIR rule).

Project duration:  2 years.

Interested candidates are requested to come prepared for written exam and personal interview along with biodata, two sets of all certificates in original as well as two latest pass-port size photographs on 18th May 2018 at 9.00 am at CSIR-CSMCRI Marine Algal Research Station, Mandapam Camp, PIN : 623519, Ramanathapuram District, Tamil Nadu.
