CSIR-IHBT is the only laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in the State of Himachal Pradesh (H.P.), India. Institute has a focused research mandate on bioresources for catalysizing bioeconomy in a sustainable manner. The institute has:  state-of the art laboratories; remote sensing and mapping facilities; internationally recognised herbarium; animal house facility; pilot plants in nutraceuticals, essential oil and herbals; farms and polyhouses.

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani) is an all-India Institute for higher education. Founded in 1964 in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, it is one of the top most educational Institute in India.  The institute is one among the 6 Indian 'Institutes of Eminence' recognized by the Government of India in 2018. The journey of Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), popularly known as Pusa Institute, began in 1905 at Pusa (Bihar) with the generous grant of 30,000 pounds from an American philanthropist, Mr. Henry Phipps. The institute was then known as Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) which functioned with five departments, namely Agriculture, Cattle Breeding, Chemistry, Economic Botany and Mycology.

CSIR - Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata, a premier scientific organization under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research poised to make an impact in understanding the chemistry of life, finally removing the veil of mystery around life. The spin-offs are bound to have a major impact on the health scenario of the nation. Today by its mandate, CSIR-IICB is engaged in research on diseases and certain biological problems of global interest.

The Government of India, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and based on the recommendation of Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, decided to create five undergraduate science universities. One of them is located at Kolkata and was started from 2006. Named as the INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH (IISER), these IISERs are designed to reach the prestigious position in the global setting that IISc, IIMs and IITs presently enjoy.

The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is committed to advanced research addressing the basic mechanisms involved in body's defence to identify modalities for manipulation of the immune system to provide protection against diseases and understand mechanisms that can be used to target disease processes for intervention. The institute’s research thrust areas under immunology and related disciplines cluster in four main themes, namely, infection and immunity, molecular design, gene regulation and reproduction and development, where cutting edge research in modern biology is being carried out.

The CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) - is amongst one of the constituent research institutes of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. Originally set up as the National Botanic Gardens (NBG) by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.), it was taken over by the CSIR in 1953. Though, initially engaged in research in the classical botanical disciplines, the NBG went on laying an increasing emphasis, in keeping with the national needs and priorities in the field of plant sciences, on its applied and developmental research activities. A time came when it was felt that the name NBG no longer projected the correct nature and extent of its aims and objectives, functions and R & D activities.

The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) is the state-of-the-art R&D satellite of the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), which also includes under its umbrella the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), the largest cancer hospital in Asia. ACTREC has the mandate to function as a national centre for treatment, research and education in cancer. TMC is an autonomous grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act (1860) and the Bombay Public Trust Act (1950). Its Governing Council is headed by the Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, Government of India.
