Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. THSTI is a part of the interdisciplinary Biotechnology Science Cluster at Faridabad, Haryana in the National Capital Region (NCR). The institute is a dynamic enterprise with a mission to conduct innovative translational research and to develop research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into products to improve human health.

ICMR-NARI is located at Bhosari, Pune on a seven acre plot. Since its inception the Institute has ably supported the National AIDS Control Programme, especially in the areas of surveillance, capacity building, laboratory services and drug resistance studies. ICMR-NARI derives strength from wide ranging National and International Collaborations.  The Institute's research activities are guided by a Scientific Advisory Committee which includes eminent scientists from varied disciplines.

The Centre has taken up research on scientific validation of Herbal and Traditional Medicine, through studies in phytochemistry, efficacy, safety, mode of action and clinical evaluation of herb, its ingredients and traditional formulations, as the thrust area. NITM is also involved in studies on prevalence of various diseases at regional level, and lending active support to the State health authorities in investigation of outbreaks, laboratory confirmations, as well as providing infrastructural support and expertise in the relevant fields of interest.

Biotechnology has become one of the emerging and exponentially growing field with a multidisciplinary nature, which integrates various branches of interdisciplinary sciences. The knowledge already acquired and being accumulated offers mankind prospects for longer, healthier lives; plentiful and safe food and water; and agriculture and industry that produce in harmony with the environment.
