Retired Armed Forces personnel till 2002 could avail medical facilities only for specific high cost surgery/treatment for a limited number of diseases covered under the Army Group Insurance(Medical Branch Scheme) (AGI(MBS)) and Armed Forces Group Insurance Scheme(Management Information System) (AFGIS (MIS)) schemes. IDPL is the largest Central Pharma Public Sector Undertaking in India with plants at Rishikesh, Gurgaon & Hyderabad and two Subsidiary Units at Chennai and Muzaffarpur. With the vision of the then Prime Minister of India, IDPL was incorporated in April, 1961 (Company Registration No. 3418 of 1961-1962 with Registrar of Companies, Delhi and having its Registered and Corporate Office at Gurgaon) with main objectives of creating self-sufficiency in respect of essential life saving medicines, to free the country from dependence on imports and to provide medicines to the millions at affordable prices and not to make millions from the medicines. IDPL was basically conceived and established as a part of Healthcare Infrastructure and has played a pioneering infra-structural role in the growth of Indian Drug Industry base.

Opening to work as Nodal Officer (Marketing & Sales) for Jharkhand State in BPPI

This Jan Aushadhi Campaign has already started with the opening of the first Jan aushadhi store at Amritsar on 25th November 2008 with the active participation of the CPSUs namely, IDPL, HAL, BPCL, KAPL & RDPL. With the launch of the Jan Aushadhi store at Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi, on 5th February, 2009, the campaign is reaching an ambitious phase of launching of more than 45 stores in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryaa, Bihar, UP, Assam and Chattisgarh by March 2009. In fact, five Jan Aushadhi drug stores are coming up in Punjab, one each at Bhatinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Mohali in Februrary 2009 with additional stores opening up at Panchkula and Faridabad in Haryana very shortly.

To provide relief to the common man in the area of healthcare, a countrywide campaign for ensuring availability of generic medicines at affordable prices to all, in the name of “Jan Aushadhi“ has been launched by the Government of India, Department of Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with the State Governments, Union Territories and also by associating recognized Trusts/Societies/pharmacists. To become a partner to this campaign and carrying forward this noble objective, BPPI invites applications from energetic and enthusiastic persons to fill up the following posts on contractual basis:
